16 Favorite Purchases from 2016

Because we do a lot of shopping around here, I thought it would be fun to look back at my favorite purchases from 2016. Since I go through a series of questions I ask myself before ever purchasing an item, you’d think I would love everything in my closet. While I’ve gotten so much better over the years, I still have those moments where I’m like, why? Why did you buy this or why didn’t you ever return this. Thankfully, there’s more pieces I love than not and today I’m sharing them with you. All of my favorites also happen to be neutrals and extremely versatile, so if any of them happen to land in your wardrobe for 2017, you won’t be disappointed.

banana-republic-regent-camel-blazer

J.Crew camel blazer (petite 00) – The Regent blazer in camel had been on my wishlist for a long time. Why on earth I waited so long to add it to my wardrobe, I have no clue. It’s absolutely one of my favorite purchases from 2016. It’s extremely versatile and I feel chic every time I wear it. I can’t wait to style it for spring and summer! See it styled it here and here.

nike-air-max-thea-sneakers

Nike Thea sneakers (size 5, also here) – Another long awaited purchase that has been worth every penny. These are probably my favorite sneaker purchase of all time. I love how sleek and chic they are. They pair well with leggings, skinny jeans, and even dresses. You will be seeing these a ton in 2017. FYI, they run narrow. I took my normal size, but I’m a small 5. See my style them here and here.

chloe-small-marcie-bag

Chloe Marcie Small bag – As you can imagine, my Chloe Marcie bag is another favorite purchase from 2017. I haven’t worn it a ton this fall/winter, but it was my go-to in the summer. I’ve noticed my black bags get more use during the colder months, but I can’t wait to pull this baby out come spring and summer. Pairs well with denim, whites, and neutrals. Also, it’s one of the roomiest crossbody bags I’ve owned. See my full review here. See me style it here, here, and here.

j-crew-regent-topcoat

J.Crew Topcoat (petite 00) – I bought this in the fall and have already worn it a ton. J.Crew’s Regent topcoats are by far my favorite topcoats, they’re incredibly chic and fit extremely well. I wish I would have known the petite sizes would sell out because I would have picked up the camel and gray as well. These coats can be pricey, but they’re 100% worth it. They also go on sale during the holidays. I would say they run true to J.Crew sizing. It’s the perfect piece to throw over just about anything. The sturctured shape allows you to wear it dressed up or down. See me style it here and here.

marc-fisher-ltd-zanna-booties

Marc Fisher ankle booties (size 5) – I now have 2 pairs of the Zanna booties from Marc Fisher ltd. I was so obsessed with the gray, I recently bought them in black. The style is chic and I love the short heel. You definitely don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort with these. I’m such a sucker for a pointed toe bootie and these don’t disappoint! See me style them here and here.

zella-leggings

Zella Live in Leggings (xxs) – Hands down the best leggings I’ve ever owned. They’re thick and warm, but sleek and flattering. I wear them all the time – to workout, run errands, lounge around in. They also come in a midi version that hit right at the ankle for petites. I need like 10 pairs of these (I have the full length, midi, and midi with faux leather)! See me style them here, here, and here.

blank-nyc-moto-jacket

Blank NYC moto jacket (xs) – This jacket was all the rage in 2016. I’m sure you saw it on many bloggers in many colors. I’m so sad the Midnight Toker color you see here is no longer being made, although the caramel color is pretty too (I compared the 2 colors in this post here). The sleeves run slightly long, but other than that, the jacket fits really well for coming right off the rack. The jacket is really well made, has good weight to it, and pairs well with my neutral closet. I know I will be wearing it for years to come. See me style it here, here, here, and here.

gucci-loafers

Gucci loafers (size 5) – These were a birthday gift to myself in November. Sadly, the temps in Oregon dropped right after and I wasn’t able to wear them a ton. I can’t wait to put them to use for years to come. Pricey, but the classic style and butter soft leather make them worth every penny.

stuart-weitzman-thighscraper-otk-boots

Stuart Weitzman OTK boots (size 4.5) – I finally tried Stuart Weitzman OTK boots and I’m hooked. Finding over-the-knee boots that fit well is no easy task and SW takes the cake. I have the Thighscrapers and the Highland boots and both are absolutely beautiful. The quality and craftsmanship is like no other and I know I’ll be wearing these for years to come. SW boots run large for me, so I went a half size down in both. See me style them here, here, and here

givenchy-satchel

Givenchy Antigona satchel (size small) – An investment piece that arrived on Christmas. This bag is absolutely gorgeous! The small size works perfectly on my petite frame and the all-black shiny leather makes any outfit chic. I can’t wait to work this bag into my wardrobe in 2017. A full review to come.

majestic-filatures-turtleneck

Majestic Filatures turtleneck (sold out, similar) (xs) – This was an unexpected surprise. I bought this on a whim and it turned out to be one of my fall and winter closet staples. The draped style is so comfortable and flattering. I could live in this top. BTW, you don’t know you need a black basic turtleneck until you have one. It pairs well with everything! See me style it here, here, and here.

kristin-cavallari-blackless-loafers

Kristin Cavallari loafers (size 5) – Another pair of shoes I wore to death last year. These are incredibly comfortable, like butter. I love the neutral color and easy slip on style. I can’t wait to wear these with my cropped flares once the weather warms up. See me style it here, here, here, and here.

bernardo-puffer-jacket

Bernardo puffer jacket (petite xs) – Easily one of my favorite lightweight jacket, ever.  The rose gold hardware plus the flattering fit make it one of the chicest puffer jackets I’ve ever seen. The petite sizing fits really well too. I can’t say enough good things about this jacket. It’s currently on sale and comes in 3 different colors.

Ray-Ban around sunglasses

Ray-Ban round sunglasses – I’m an aviator kind-of-girl, so I wasn’t sure I was going to like the round style on me. But, these proved me wrong. I love the vintage, care-free vibes they give off. See me style them here, here, and here.

cult-gaia-birdcage-bag

Cult Gaia bag – Most of 2016 I had the large version of this bag, but I recently ordered the small and I’m so excited to use it in the spring and summer. It makes just about any outfit interesting and I just love the warm weather vibes it gives off. It was sold out for most of year last year, but it appears it’s been restocked in some places. See me style it here, here, and here

brixton-willow-panama-hat

Brixton Willow hat (sold out, size xs) – I wore the crap out of this hat in the summer. It’s the best fitting and looking hat I’ve ever owned. I’m looking forward to seeing what Brixton comes out with this summer, but I have feeling I’ll fall back on this one. It’s that good! See me style it here, here, and here
