2017 Year In Review

WE FOUND OUT WE WE’RE PREGNANT

As we approach the end of the year, I like to look back and do some reflecting. I especially like to look back on my previous year’s Year in Review post (you can read it it here), to see what I’ve accomplished and where I am in terms of those goals. Things are a little different this year as we found out we were pregnant early on, which ultimately changed the course of the year. Of the 6 goals I set for 2017, I accomplished 3-4, so, not too bad. We didn’t get to travel as much or explore our city, but I did find myself back at the gym 2 times per week, I was able to find a much better work/life balance, and the business grew by at least 50% (woohoo).

DESIGNED OUR DREAM NEUTRAL NURSERY

As I was putting this post together I was feeling some mixed emotions. When you break it down, it doesn’t seem like I did or accomplished a ton this year. You don’t see beautiful travel photos or anything like that. We didn’t “take advantage” of our last year with no kids and live it up. When I go to show you our year, it seems like a bit of a let down (in comparison to other bloggers). But, what you don’t see through photos is how huge this year was for us in terms of personal and mental growth, both of which are extremely important to me. I took it easy because I was/am pregnant (which was pretty hard to come to terms with). I didn’t force too much and didn’t expect too much from myself. If I needed a day to rest, I took it. Mike and I took every opportunity to live in the moment, be present, appreciate everything we have, and not listen to outside pressures. We spent our days reflecting and really appreciating where we are in our life and thinking about all the fun days we get to experience with our baby girl. We also spent our days discussing the future of this business, life goals, and how we want to raise our family. So, no 2017 wasn’t the year of grand trips, but it was a year of reflection, clarity and personal growth. Oh and I did I mention the year I grew a human being!!!

I’m still processing my goals for 2018 as some big changes are about to happen. I will go more into detail about what you can expect on the blog in the new year in an upcoming post, so stay tuned for that. But in general, I’m just looking forward to meeting our baby girl and finding our new normal with her. I want to live in the moment as much as possible and not let my Type A controlling personality take over. I know my life is about to be flipped upside down. Owning your own business and working from home is how we always imagined raising a family, but there are some downsides to it, especially in the beginning (no maternity leave here!). While things may be difficult at first, we’re super excited to take on this new challenge together and figure out how to manage it all (yikes, lol!).

And this post wouldn’t be complete without saying a big THANK YOU to you guys. Thank you for coming on this journey with us and being so awesome and loyal. Your support means the world to me and I honestly couldn’t do it with you. Receiving emails, comments, and DM’s about a specific post you loved is what keeps me going and motivated. This is my passion, but also know connecting with you and making an impact on your life (even if it’s just helping you style OTK boots) is what makes it all worth it. You’ve seen us get married and now you’ll see this new chapter in our lives. I hope you stick around because I have a feeling 2018 will be our best year yet!
