Happy Monday! How was your weekend? We went to a wine event on Saturday, but other than that, my butt has been glued to my desk trying to get work done before Thanksgiving. On top of having family in town (first time having people staying in our guest room, eeek), it’s my birthday on Friday. I’m really trying to get all my work done before then… but it’s also the biggest time of year in terms of sales and content, so wish me luck. I will need a stiff cocktail by the end of the week.

In other news, I know dressing for the holidays can be stressful, add your significant other, and you want to pull your hair out. I’ve been there and done that. So, today I’m sharing some tips on how to make coordinating outfits with your man a little easier this time of year.

  • Choose a color scheme – You want to look cohesive, but not matchy matchy. So, pick a few colors and play with textures and tones. We went with a brown, blues, beige feel and while all our colors are slightly different it works without being too uniform. Also, stay away from going too bold with your color choice. With both people wearing bright and bold colors, it could be a little tacky and coming off as trying to hard.
  • Plan in advance – There’s nothing worse than trying to coordinate outfits the day of. He already doesn’t love this part of  the holidays, so make sure you have a few options beforehand. Have him try on a few outfits. Know what he has in his closet and maybe pick of a few new pieces that work with his favorite pants or jeans. You want to make this process as easy as possible, so they continue with the tradition.
  • Know what he likes and play to his strengths – I know exactly what kinds of pieces Mike loves, so I’m able to pull a couple options for him. Once I have a few outfits for him that we both like, I’ll create my look based on it. I have a lot  more options than he does, so I always try to get his looks down first. Men don’t like to fuss over clothes, so the easier it is for them, the better for you. If they like skinny jeans, go with it. Maybe they hate sweaters, so opt for a button-up. Try not to force anything too much… or you’ll lose them.
  • Remind him how good he looks – This is key, ladies! The guys are not going to love coordinating outfits if everything they try on gets a negative response. Play to their strengths, but also pick out things you love as well. That way both people are happy. He looks handsome and you get cute holiday photos.
