Anti-Cancer A New Way of Life: David Servan-Schreiber

Anti-Cancer A New Way of Life

*I first want to say, I am not a professional in the health field and these are strictly my views and opinions.

I normally don’t refer to reports featured on Good Morning America; they are very conventional, mainstream, and trendy (especially when it comes to health and diet). However, I turned on the TV, to a story last week that I could relate to and thought was worth sharing. Good Morning America featured David Servan-Schreiber a doctor, scientist, cancer survivor, and author of Anticancer, A New Way of Life. In his book, Servan-Schreiber narrates his battle with cancer and the struggles to keep it in remission. He tells the story of how he was diagnosed for the first time fifteen years ago, received conventional treatment and went into remission, only to relapse after that. As a scientist and physician and having the resources to do so, he decided to learn everything he could to help his body defend itself against the illness. He then focused on diet, exercise, and lifestyle, which has helped him battle the disease. He’s been able to keep cancer at bay for seven years now.

Dr. David Servan-Schreiber

I wanted to feature Servan-Schreiber’s story to help expose the reality of cancer. Everyone always talks about the treatments (chemo and radiation) but rarely discuss preventative practices. We all have choices and options and Servan-Schreiber is a living example of this. I truly believe your diet and lifestyle have an underlying effect on whether or not your cancer cells decide to stay dormant or become active. It’s great to see a successful story about unconventional treatment and preventative practices in mainstream media.
