Your Guide to Shopping Summer Sandals

Happy first day of summer! I can’t believe we’re finally here. On one hand it seems like Mike and I were just talking about all our 2017 goals in January, but on the other hand, it seems like it’s taken forever to finally get to some warm weather. Regardless, I’m one happy girl to finally have consecutive days (even weeks) of temps over 70 degrees. To kick off the start of summer, I thought I’d share a roundup of my favorite flat sandals. I’ll give you the inside scoop on what I’ve bought so far, how they fit, and how to style them. I’m also sharing other summer sandals at every price range worth checking out.

Madewell nude lace up sandals

Madewell Boardwalk lace up sandals, 5 – Madewell has brought these lace up sandals back for several years now and I can see why. They’re super simple and classic and add a bit of flare to any outfit. I now have these in tan, black, and nude (nude sold out fast). I love them paired with shorts, but more recently I love them paired with cropped jeans. They take some time to wear in, but as with any leather, the older and more worn they are, the better!

M.gemi slides
Solduos two toned espadrilles

M.Gemi Gemello slides, 5 – These are a more recent buy and I must say, I’m obsessed. M.Gemi never disappoints when it comes to quality, but I just love the simple shape and design. The suede is super soft and the color is a nice neutral. These look great with shorts, dresses, and cropped jeans.

Soludos Bicolor Platform Sandals, 5 – I’m a huge fan of Soludos, but these are my first pair of sandals (normally I get the espadrille smoking slippers). I love the two-toned color combination. I can wear them with tans and neutrals, but also with blacks. They’re super comfortable right out of the box and run TTS. Because they have an ankle strap, I reserve these for shorts or dresses only (they’re too bulky for jeans).

SUMMER SANDALS UNDER $100

Ancient Greek black slides
Sam Edelman brown sandals

Ancient Greek Thais slides, 5 – I’ve had these for several years, but never really wore them  until now. They always seemed super black to me and unflattering, but I’m embracing them slowly. I’m not used to wearing a ton of black in the summer, but I’ve been making a point to change that. These aren’t as comfortable as some of my other sandals, although I think they need breaking in.

Sam Edelman Berit sandals, 5 – As mentioned in an earlier post, these are a great dupe for the Hermes Oran sandals. I don’t own any other true brown sandals, so these were a great addition to my collection. They pair well with tans and beiges and of course, whites. They run more narrow than my other sandals, but I would still say go with your normal size (I have normal to wide feet).

Pour La Victoire slides
Crystalin Marie summer sandal collection

Pour La Victoire Lani slides, 5.5, but could wear 5 – These are super flattering and really elongate your legs. I’ve worn them with shorts, dresses, and jeans – the nude really goes with everything. If you’re looking for a simple, understanded sandal, these are great (and comfortable!).

SUMMER SANDALS UNDER $200

K Jacques white sandals
Vince Camuto two tone sandals

K.Jacques white sandals, 5 (similar)  – I’ve had these sandals for several years and only started wearing them now. Funny how things like that happen, right? I’ve always thought my feet were too wide for these, but after trying them on again last week, they didn’t look too bad. I honestly think, a pedicure makes the biggest difference, lol. I just have to make sure my toes are groomed if these are going to work.

Vince Camuto Rhonda sandals, 5 – Stumbled upon these at Nordstrom Rack and they completely surprised me. They look so much like the Joie Sabel sandals for half the price. The nude and white are perfect for summer and they’re pretty comfortable. They come in an assortment of different color combinations and most sizes are still in-stock. I’ve worn these with jeans, but can’t wait to also pair them with all my white dresses. Jump on these before they sell out!

Madewell crisscross slides
Vince slides

S H O P  T H E  P O S T :

Madewell crisscross sandals, 5 (old, similar) – These are from last year, but I’ve been wearing them non-stop. They match a couple of handbags perfectly, so I tend to gravitate toward them a lot. I love the simple crisscross style – simply stated, but chic at the same time. These are great to slip on with shorts (of any kind), dresses, cropped jeans, and skirts. I did find a very similar pair here.

Vince Bartley Slides, 5 – I heard great things about these Vince slides and I was so excited to snag them during Shopbop’s sale last week. The nude suede is beautiful, but they do run narrow. It will take me some wears to break them in, but I got them at such a great deal, they’re definitely worth keeping. If you search the Internet for the Vince Bartley sandals, your bound to find either the nude, tan, or black on major sale. They’re super easy to wear and go with everything!
