Holiday Style: From Desk to Dinner

His and Hers holiday looks

Today kicks off my holiday style posts. I received SO many DM’s on Instagram Stories asking for outfit inspiration for all your holiday events, parties, and get-togethers. Today’s post is all about how to dress from desk to dinner – what to wear to work that can easily transition to drinks or dinner with co-workers.  My biggest tip for this is to wear something comfortable, but include subtle festive pieces.

With the holidays comes a lot of work dinners and happy hours. You want to dress festive, but also comfortable and appropriate (since you’ll be at work all day). How do you do this? I would reach for pieces you already love. Maybe you love a good midi skirt or a sweater. Find options that are a little more elevated and festive – think sequins, velvet, suede, faux leather, faux fur, or play with color, like burgundy or a dark green. Play around with holiday styles, while also staying true to your style, if that makes sense. This sweater is so perfect for the holidays. It’s festive without screaming red and green. I love that you can wear it throughout the year, too! This skirt is gorgeous and another great piece for this time of year. Since it’s black, you can easily wear it for multiple occasions, just styled differently. Best part, it’s comfortable and has some weight to it, so it will keep you warmer than most skirts. And then there’s these pumps. I’m so obsessed! They’re stunning and look way more expensive than they are. The mesh and spots make them festive, but since they’re a classic black color, you can wear them all year long. Gotta love versatile pieces like that!

Tip for holiday dressing for men – Keep it classic and stay true to who you are, but add festive and fun elements. Everything Mike is wearing he would wear anytime of year. We simply added a plaid shirt to add a festive element. It’s very work appropriate, but works for dinner as well.

I’ve been shopping for holiday outfits on Nordstrom.com and they have so many great options right now. This skirt is classic and gorgeous, this skirt is so fun and would pair well with a classic sweater, and this dress is perfect for something more formal.  If you or your significant other needs holiday outfits, I would highly suggest checking out Nordstrom.
