How to Wear Plaid in Neutral Wardrobe Part II

I do realize this post a little late as we’re nearing the end of plaid season, but just in case you  have a bunch of pieces you’re still waiting to wear, I have a couple tips for you. Plaid shirts have always been hard to pull off for me. I either feel like I’m going to a rodeo or I scream holidays. It’s a love hate relationship, I think. I get the J.Crew catalogue and I’m all, so much plaid, so cute. But, when I go to wear it, it doesn’t really feel like me… Until now. I may have solved my plaid issues this season. If you stick to my two rules, you should be good to wear plaid all year round. First, always play off of the colors in your plaid shirt. The one I’m wearing is very blue, so I paired it with a navy coat and navy booties. By going a bit monochrome, you’re tying the plaid into an already pulled together look. Second, pair your plaid with elevated, minimal pieces. You’ll notice, J.Crew tends to pair their plaid with sleek trousers or sweaters. By doing this, your plaid will look more chic and less outdoorsy.
