Congrats to Becky and Jason

Mike and I spent last week in Kauai with family to celebrate the marriage of Mike’s stepsister Becky, and now husband Jason. Both Mike and I had never been to Hawaii, so not only were we excited to take a much needed vacation, but to also explore the tropical island. Other than the rain and 100 mosquito bites (that’s what tropical weather will do to you), we had an amazing time. We stayed in the cutest cottage in Hanalei Bay, went to the beach everyday, hiked Kalalau Trail (the views were breathtaking), visited several beautiful beaches, watched the sunset at the St. Regis, and spent time body surfing the waves. I tried surfing once, but the waves were intimating to say the least, so I just rode them in laying down. I’m not typically an ocean kinda girl, so I was pretty proud of myself, ha! I will say, anywhere you turn, the views in Kauai are pretty spectacular.

If you’re looking to go to Hawaii and avoid all the touristy things, I would highly recommend visiting Kauai and staying in Hanalei Bay. There’s more of that local vibe going on and all around more relaxing.
