Latest Obsession: Sneakers

I don’t know if it was my love for sneakers that made me fall in love with athleisure wear, or vice versa, but either way I’m obsessed with both. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen my sneaker collection grow over the last couple of months. Since I know some of you don’t have Instagram or don’t check it as often, I figured I’d share my growing sneaker collection and obsession here on the blog.

It all started when I finally got my hands on a pair of Thea sneakers (the black pair) last fall. I wanted to wear them with everything. They’re comfortable and chic and keep your dressed down looks looking polished and pulled together. After wearing the black Theas non-stop, I knew I had to get my hands on both the gray and oatmeal/nude color. While searching for my Thea’s, I fell in love with the Huarache sneakers. Hands down one of the best purchases I’ve made this year. They’re so ridiculously comfortable and lightweight, not to mention chic. I wanted something that was fashion forward at the gym and these make my dull workout clothes look good, ha! Then I worked with Allbirds last month and fell in love with those sneakers as well. You can read all about them in this post, but let’s just say, they’re the best things I’ve ever put on my feet. If you’re looking for an everyday sneaker to run around in, I would highly recommend getting a pair of Wool Runners. While I’m normally a black sneaker girl, I’ve been all about gray this year. So, when I spotted the adidas Tubular sneakers, I had to have them. I’m obsessed with the gray color and texture! I find these do run big, so make sure you size down.

Since sneakers pair so well with my casual style, I decided to invest in a couple slip on sneakers to wear with jeans, shorts, dresses, and skirts. I wear my Soludos espadrilles a lot, so I think my Vince platform sneakers will be a great alternative. For those of you who want to wear sneakers more regularly with normal outfits (not athleisure), wearing a sneaker that shows more of your ankles and feet will be more flattering and help elongate your legs. The sneakers mentioned above (Theas, Huaraches, etc.) aren’t as flattering on my short frame with jeans or dresses, so I bought slip on sneakers for more everyday wear . To be honest, the added height on the Vince sneakers was the reason I had to have them. A short girl must-have in my opinion!

I’m going to go into more detail soon on how to pull off athleisure wear and sneakers in what I’m calling my Style and Shopping Guides. Stay tuned because I think you’re going to love this new series (they do take a long time to put together, so please be patient)!

I’m sharing some other sneakers that are on my radar below. If you have a pair you can’t stop wearing, I’d love to hear about them.
