Recent Purchases + At Home Try On’s

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Mike had a tennis match on Saturday (he won, yay!), we stayed up really late to watch the Australian open final, and had an impromptu date night last night. We’ve also been binge watching Parenthood. We’re obviously way late to the game, but we love it! Has anyone else seen it?

In fashion related news, I’m excited to share January’s purchases and at home try on’s. If you have any questions about anything you see below – sizing, fit, quality, etc. – shoot me an email or leave a comment below. Cheers to a great week ahead!

Club Monaco ruffle cropped jacket 2

Club Monaco Ruffle Jacket (xs)- This is my first ever jacket purchase from Club Monaco. I wasn’t sure how the sizing would work, but I was pleasantly surprised. I would say it’s a true xs, but as expected, it runs slightly large on me. This is more of a feminine jacket for me, but I’ve been wanting something cropped like this for a while. The color and ruffle detail scream spring, so I thought it would be a perfect addition to my neutral wardrobe. I’m sharing how the sleeves look folded and unfolded above. For those of you interested, it’s on double sale and also comes in a longer version here.

Asos tie back sweater
Asos tie back sweater 3

Asos sweater with tie back (US 0)- I wanted this sweater to work so bad. I love the tie back detail and thick knit, but sadly it’s too big. The style is long as it is, so I’m not sure if going smaller would even help. If you’re tall, this sweater is absolutely adorable.

Ro & De bell sleeve top

Ro & De bell sleeve top (Petite xs)- One of my favorite finds this month. Bell sleeves are hard to find for petites, so that fact that this one hits at a great spot on my wrist and isn’t extremely long, is awesome. I’m wearing a petite xs and it fits nicely. It’s a more fitted style, so I’m looking forward to styling it with high-waisted jeans and under dresses.

Madewell bomber cardigan

Madewell bomber cardigan 2

Madewell bomber cardigan sweater (xs)- I’m a huge fan of varsity bomber style jackets, so when I spotted this cardigan, I had to have it. The sweater runs more fitted, so I went up a size in order to layer. Good length, not itchy, and not too bulky. I can’t wait to wear this in the spring!

Topshop Mom jeans
Topshop Mom jeans 2

Topshop Ripped Mom Jeans (Petite 24) – These looked like the perfect boyfriend jeans on the website, but sadly, they’re extremely unflattering on me. It should have been a given with the ‘Mom’ jeans in the title, but I had to give them a shot. They’re high-waisted and tight around the waist, balloon out around the thighs, and taper toward the ankle. I’m wearing a size 24, but would size up if I was keeping them.

Topshop trumpet sweater 3

Topshop trumpet sleeve top (petite us 2) – Since sleeve details are all the rage right now, I had to try this trumpet sleeve sweater. I ordered a petite 2 and it fits perfectly. It has more of a cropped length, so keep that in mind if ordering. It’s also fairly thick, so you don’t have to worry about it being see-through. It’s a great option for petite’s as the arms hit at a great length.

Asos lace neck sweater

Asos lace neck sweater (US 4) – I love the idea of having little details peak through outfits and the collar on this sweater is adorable. They didn’t have my normal size, but since it’s more of a fitted sweater, I actually took the smallest size they had, which was a US 4, and the fit is perfect. Loose enough, but not overly big.

J.Crew Holly sweater

J.Crew Holly sweater 2

J.Crew Holly Sweater (xs) – This was one of those colored pieces I was talking about last week. I’m obsessed with mint for spring and this sweater is gorgeous. The reviews on the site were all over the place in terms of sizing, but I ended up going with an xs and it fits well. The arms do run long (they don’t make this sweater in petite), but everything else works. It’s lightweight and I haven’t had any issues with it being itchy. Past sweaters from J.Crew have pilled really easily, so we’ll see how this one holds up.

Madewell button back sweater

Madewell button back sweater 2

Madewell embroidered backroad button-back sweater (xs) – The embroidered lettering plus the button-back detail sold me. It’s a nice lightweight sweater that has a more fitted look. It does run small, so  I went up to an xs (I normally wear xxs at Madewell). Perfect little pullover for spring!

BDG Girlfriend jeans
BDG Girlfriend jeans 2

BDG Girlfriend high rise jeans (24) – I had seen these on another petite blogger and thought the length would be perfect. While the length hits right at my ankle, which I love, there is too much room in the hips and thighs, making them extremely unflattering on me. They’re really soft and a great medium wash for spring. If you’re a little taller than me, these could definitely work for you. The more straight leg (not-fitted) style mixed with my short legs makes them look too boxy and wide. I took my normal size, wearing a 24 here.

BDG high wasited black jeans 3

BDG Twig Crop high-rise skinny jeans (25) – I’ve been back and forth on these jeans. I’ve come to realize, high-waisted jeans are not that flattering when you have a very straight, no curve body type. But, they do make my legs look really long. Mike says they’re the most flattering jeans he’s ever seen on me… I think the rips are throwing me off, though. They’re slightly lower than they should be, making my leg proportions look weird. I still have the tag on them, so we’ll see if they make the cut. Per reviews on the website, I went up 1 size and they fit really well.

Topshop tie sleeve jumper 2

Topshop tie sleeve jumper (petite US 2) – I just adore this sweater so much, but unfortunately, it’s way too big. I didn’t pay too much attention to the actual fit on the model on the website, but the sweater has an oversized fit. The sleeves are really wide and it almost has a drop shoulder. I don’t think going smaller would even help. Plus, I’m always confused as to what to do with jumpers that have side slits. I typically tuck in my sweaters and this doesn’t really work when you have slits. It’s adorable though. If you’re tall, I say size down and go for it.

J.Crew denim jacket 2

Madewell striped split neck tee 2
J.Crew denim jacket

J.Crew classic denim jacket in tyler wash (xxs) –  J.Crew makes the best fitting denim jackets, ever! I had been eyeing this classic wash for a while and snagged it when it went on sale last week. The reviews said it ran small, so I actually ended up ordering a regular xxs (instead of petite xxs) and it fits like a petite. It’s extremely fitted, which I happen to like, but could have easily gone with a regular xs.

Madewell striped split-neck tee (xs) – As if I need another striped tee, but I love the embroidered detail and split-neck detail. Runs slightly small, I sized up to an xs.

Sam Edelman lace up pumps

Sam Edelman Lace Up Pumps (5) – I love the nude/tan version of these so much I decided to get them in black. They run TTS, they’re incredibly comfortable, and surprisingly easy to walk in. They’re currently on sale with most sizes still in stock.

Nike Funnel Neck Rally sweatshirt
Nike Funnel Neck Rally sweatshirt 2

Nike Funnel Neck Rally Sweatshirt (xs) – Apologies if you’ve heard me talk about this sweatshirt already a million times. But, it’s that good. I’m a huge fan of large collars and this one does not disappoint. It runs small in the sleeves, so you may want to size up. I’m wearing an xs and once I washed it, it fit perfectly. I have it in black and gray, but it also comes in heather gray, sky blue, and forest green. Soft, cozy, and super comfortable.

Joie snow boot 2

Joie Snow Boots (5) – I saw these on Joie’s Instagram and had to have them. I love the neutral color and shape of the boot. I took my normal size and they fit really well. They also come with a festive winter red lace you can swap in. I have yet to wear them in any snow/cold weather, so this review is based on look and feel.
