Weekend Recap 19

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? We had quite the boring weekend, so I’ll spare you all the details. It went something like coffee, donuts, dog walks, naps, work, and errands. It was rainy and gloomy, so we kinda said, F it, let’s keep it simple. Something I’ve realized since living here and having very random weather all the time – when summer weather is going strong, it’s so hard to get dressed for cold, rainy days. You almost forget how to do it. I just want to throw on jeans, sneakers, and a puffer coat and call it a day. 50 degrees in June doesn’t cut it.

In other positive news, we started dog training last Thursday. Lola is trained for the most part (knows commands, listens well, and is the sweetest with other dogs, people, and kids), but we kind of dropped the ball with Riley. We joke, it’s the second child syndrome (not like we have kids, but we can totally relate). We were extremely diligent with Lola, but completely fell off the wagon when we got Riley. He’s extremely sweet, but has aggression issues. We want to correct this, so he has better experiences with dog sitters and eventually when we start a family. We’re signed up for 8 at-home sessions and so far we like our trainer and are already making progress. Our first week’s homework – have both dogs eating 2 meals/day at the same time (Lola has been a grazer her whole life), having them eat in separate spaces where they feel safe, and sleeping in their own beds on the floor. I knew the sleeping thing would be tough, but we’ve had 3 nights of success so far. We’re super proud of our little puppies. Change is hard, we know.

We also recently got new Ralph Lauren pillows from Home Goods. The first night I thought we hit the jackpot, but ever since, I haven’t been able to get comfy. I think it’s too fluffy for my neck. We’re both side sleepers and like fairly firm pillows. We haven’t done any research, but have tried different cheap options from Home Goods, Ikea, Costco, etc. If you have any good recommendations, I’d love to hear about them! I almost feel like the ones we got could be perfect, they just need some wearing in, if that makes sense.

Alright, there’s my life update since last week. I did a bunch of online shopping last week, so stay tuned to see what I ordered.

Wishing you all a happy and productive week!
