Weekend Recap No. 1

Abercrombie & Fitch cardigan, CHRLDR tee, BP. pj pants (old, similar)

Happy Monday, friends! For those of you who have been following me for years, you may remember my Weekend Recap series. I’m so excited to bring it back every Monday. This past weekend wasn’t really the best time to start it (the weather pretty much ruined all plans), but I promise they’ll get better. I just figure, it’s a great way to show more of my life, more of Portland, and all the photos that never make it to Instagram (which is a lot). I’m hoping it will also open up dialogue where you can share your favorite bits and pieces of your weekend.

We kicked off the weekend a little early on Thursday. Natalie, Seth, and baby Talie were in town and Mike was packing to head out to Arizona for a boys trip. Trying to meet up with friends plus having your husband catch his early morning flight all in the middle of a winter storm, not the best timing. But, it all worked out (thankfully) and it felt amazing to catch up with Nat. Nat and I used to spend a ton of time together in the Bay Area. We took each other’s blog photos and became super close (remember this post). She’s honestly the best and making motherhood look chic. I miss her like crazy. Watching her with Talie is giving Mike and I baby fever (yikes!)

I had plans to head to the mall and run errands on Friday, but freezing rain and slippery roads kept me home. I can officially say, I’m over this weather. I knew what we were getting ourselves into moving here, but man, I’m ready for spring. Now that I think about it, last year during the Super Bowl we had amazing warm weather with sunshine. WTF? I had every intention of getting a lot of work done while Mike was out of town, but instead, lounged around with the pups, caught up on shows, read, and shopped online. I never get the chance to do said things, so it felt AMAZING.

What I Ordered:

Ordered a few petite-friendly cropped flares from Asos

Snagged so many great tops and blouses from H&M

And can we talk about this amazing skirt from Ann Taylor. I had been dreaming up this skirt in my head for a long time, so I hope it lives up to the hype.

Also ordered a couple pairs of shoes from Zara (these and these).

Saturday I escaped the house to watch my cousin’s basketball game, have lunch with my aunt, and do a little browsing at Bridgeport (outdoor mall of sorts).  Ever since Madewell started making xxs, it’s become one of my favorite brands. I stopped in to have a looksies and of course came home with several pieces. I mentioned this button down during this Dressing Room Diaries post. The xxs was on double sale, so it was a no brainer. They don’t carry size 23 jeans in-store, but they happened to have one pair laying around. This was my first time trying on a size 23 from Madewell and fell in love with the fit. If you’re looking for a pair of high waisted black jeans, I would highly recommend the the high-rise in black sea (super flattering). The sales associate was wearing the cali demi-boot jeans in distressed white and I had to have them. The cropped flares sell out online in size 23 super fast, so I haven’t been able to get my hands on a pair yet. Thankfully, we were able to track a pair down in the Walnut Creek store. I’ll be sure to share how they fit once I receive them. I may have just found my new favorite denim brand… added bonus, they’re very affordable!

It rained all day Sunday, so I was cuddled up on the couch watching Super Bowl pre shows pretty much all day. My aunt and uncle had their annual Super Bowl party, but I decided to sit this one out. The lousy weather coupled with no Mike had me feeling lazy. Plus, I’m a huge sports fan and I love watching all the stories leading up to the big game (I’m weird, but it’s been my thing since I was little). I also tend to get too tipsy at Super Bowl parties and never fully watch the game (I’m sure this happens to most of us, no?). I didn’t have huge feelings towards either team, but found myself rooting for the Patriots down the stretch (I always like to see a good game). Whether you’re a football fan or not, the end of the game was amazing. I’ve watched every Super Bowl since I was a teenager and that was the best comeback I’ve ever seen. Absolutely incredible and inspiring… kinda got me pumped to take on this week.

Did you watch the game? What did you do this weekend?
