Bootie Bootie Bootie

I’ve had a love hate relationship with flat booties. I love the way they look, the ease of wearing them, and the edginess they bring to outfits, but my short legs are having a tough time pulling them off. If you think about it, all booties (but, especially flat ones) cut off your legs and for those that are less fortunate in the leg department, this can be really unflattering. I ordered a pair of flat tan Sam Edelman booties a while back and just could not pull them off. The contrast between tan and black or blue jeans DID NOT work for me. I wasn’t ready to give up on flat booties quite yet, so I recently ordered the Vince Camuto Tricera boot in black. I had a feeling the black booties paired with black skinny jeans or leggings would help elongate my legs (anything monochromatic will do the trick). Going all black has definitely helped, but I’ve also found that tucking in your shirts, so you show more leg, works wonders too. I absolutely love the the look of the Tricera booties, so I’m so glad I kept them and found a way to make them work… but for now, they’ll only be worn with black #shortgirlproblems.

If you have any tips on how to wear flat booties, please do share!

P.s. I’m talking sneakers over on Divine Caroline. Check it out here!

I love this look Crystalin. I think you’re rocking those flat booties and the contrast of that bright blue and your camel coat is gorgeous!

I have a pair of booties that cut low on the ankle and they really flatter my legs…I’m pretty short so I know what you’re talking about when you mean they cut off your legs! I hate that! Anyway, I love the ones you are wearing paired with the jeans. And that camel coat is everything. xoxo

I TOTALLY relate as one short lady to the other. I also love the look but without “stick thin” and “tall” limbs, the ability to look flattering in the booties can be so tricky. I like the idea of streamlining the look and length of the leg with a monotone look like all black. It’s more flattering than looking like your leg just got shorter. =) As with a lot of outfits for us, it’s all about proportion and visual tricks. =D

      Completely, 100% agree!

Don’t even get me start on short legs! Definitely have a love/hate relationship with flat boots. Agree with all your points about sticking to one color. Also, I only wear flat boots with my most flattering skinny of skinniest jeans because the excess material that bunches up around my ankles does nothing for my cankles! LOL

Funny you mention that about the petty booties, I bought them last year and wore them a lot. But this year I just can’t seem to like them on me! Still haven’t worn them this year!!!

    Cute outfit!
Do the booties fit true to the size? I am keeping my eye on them for a while… Thanks!

      Yes, true to size :)
