Keeping it Classic

{Gap oxford shirt, H&M coat (sold out), Rag & Bone jeans, J.Crew Everly pumps, Clare Vivier clutch}

It doesn’t get more classic than a navy coat with gold hardware. I fell in love with this one the minute I laid eyes on it for several reasons. It’s thick and warm, it’s a true deep navy color, the gold hardware is a nice touch (obviously), and the collar is huge! Collars are my thing and it can make or break whether or not a piece goes home with me. Although the smallest size was too large, I knew I had to make this coat work (it was on sale for like $25). It only took me 4 or 5 months to finally get it taken in, but I’m so glad I did because it fits like a glove!

Coats are tricky for petites, so when you find one you love, you do as Tim Gunn says and ‘make it work.’

    This coat is gorgeous! Absolutely worth the extra effort to have it altered. I have to size up in coats and button ups because of my long arms and broad shoulders then it’s too big through the body. Thank God for good tailors.
    This look is perfection…classic is always my preference and you do it so well.

    You make such a good case for getting the everly pumps! I need to just pull the trigger.

    Total thumbs up!! And yes, we are so twins in this coat! haha. I nabbed it on sale like you and even had an additional coupon that worked on a few dollars discount. Hey, every penny counts right? I was actually debating on this one but for the same reasons you stated, I jumped on the purchase. It was perfect for the rainy weather we just had! =D
    And I am seriously debating on those Everly pumps. Every time I see you post them, I inch closer. =D

    Great post! Random question, may I ask what size you are in Jcrew tees? Specifially your ‘Hello tee’

      The Hello Tee is an xs, but I like my tees fairly loose.
