Happy Tuesday, friends! I feel like it’s been a while. We got back from the Bay Area Sunday night, but I was so exhausted, I needed a vacation from our vacation yesterday. I’m nowhere near caught up on sleep yet, but I figure, I shouldn’t leave you guys hanging. I’ll fill you in on our weekend, but I’ll also have a Nordstrom Sale post up later today.
Happy Friday! We’re officially in the Bay Area and this trip couldn’t have come at a better time. I was feeling overworked, Mike just got over a stomach bug, and Riley is on the tail end of some odd virus/rash thing. Time away in the sunshine has never sounded better. We’re here for my grandma’s 80th birthday, but we extended our stay to see my parents, family, and friends. Oh and I’m here to eat at all my favorite restaurants, lol. The Mexican food is not the same in Oregon. You can catch us over on Instagram and Instagram Stories where we’ll be posting in more real time.
I’m so excited to share and style 2 petite-friendly ponchos I bought during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I talked about it briefly in my Try-On’s post, but let’s just say I had searched high and low for a poncho that wasn’t overwhelming for several years with no luck. While one is considered a pullover, it can easily be worn as a poncho and both come in petite sizes and multiple colors. Both will work seamlessly with my growing belly and I love that they’re casual in neutral colors (versatility!).
You guys know how much I love my athleisure wear. I actually have a full guide on how to wear athleisure, what it is, where to buy it, etc. coming early fall. I was working on it at the end of winter/spring, but figured it would be best to post if after summer, once the weather was cooler. Stay tuned for that one, I have a feeling you’re going to love it. In the meantime, today I’m sharing my favorite athleisure picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
We are officially more than halfway through the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! How’s it going to so far? Were you able to snag some fall essentials? I would love to hear about any favorites you bought. And if you took me up on any of my recommendations, I’d love to hear if they worked out for you. Pieces sold out so quickly this year. I wish Nordstrom would either offer more selection or add more inventory in terms of sizing. I guess they’re really trying to encourage Early Access sign ups. I have more sale outfits to share in the next few weeks, but also know I will continue to try to share pieces that are still in-stock or get restocked (check my in-stock page that I update daily). Despite some of the popular items selling out, there’s still quite a few good basics still around. Also, always check back on your favorite items. Returns happen, so you may get lucky.
I don’t know about you but I love layers even in the summer. I’m that person that always gets cold in restaurants or if I drink anything remotely cold – iced coffee, smoothie, etc. – which means I always have an extra layer in my bag, tied around my waist, or thrown over my shoulders. Mike thinks I’m crazy, but I always laugh, when he ends up freezing at the mall or grocery store. Since I’m all for layers in the summer, I’m sharing my favorite jackets to wear right now. Some may even transition to fall really seamlessly.
Happy Monday, friends! We had a bit of crazy weekend. We’re preparing for our California trip at the end of the week, which meant working and shooting photos non-stop. Riley also has had rash/hives since last Wednesday. He’s been to the vet twice and going back today. They’ve given us an antihistamine and steroid, but it doesn’t seem to be working. I hate seeing him in such discomfort and not acting like himself. I also hate that we can’t figure out what he’s allergic to. We’ve cleaned our house, washed his bed and blanket, given him a bath, changed his food back to his old food. It’s driving me nuts. Let me know if you have any tips/experienced this before.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Public Access is finally here! Anyone and everyone can now shop the sale, woohoo! Since I’ve received all my orders, I did some research and I’m sharing my top 19 neutral basics worth investing in. I ordered quite a bit, so I was able to sort through the good, the bad, and the amazing. This is a great post if you’re on a budget or just looking for good basics that will take you through the fall and winter. I’ve factored in versatility, quality, and necessity. Some items are so good it’s worth doubling up on or getting different colors. And the best part, everything is very budget-friendly. I think the most expensive thing is the leather tote that goes for $250, which is actually a steal!
Fall is my favorite time of year to get dressed and last year I really relied on various neutral color combinations. Honestly, I think that’s how you really get through the fall and very long winters in Oregon. Playing with certain color combinations can be fun – last year I discovered tan and gray, which oddly, I had never thought to try. I also relied heavily on gray and black, especially my gray jeans and black OTK boots. Whether it was color coordinating with beanies, scarves, or bags, I wore the two together a ton (see here, here, here, here, here, and here). Since they were such a fall and winter go-to combination for me, I thought I’d share 3 new looks from pieces that are part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. You know, just in case you’re stocking up on fall staples.
