I was browsing last week and stumbled on the Jill loafers and had to double take. They are nearly identical to the Gucci Princetown shearling mule loafers, but for 1/10th of the price. Honestly, they may just be the best dupes I’ve ever seen. I happen to love the shearling detail, but when I was buying my Gucci loafers, I had to go with the classics. Thanks to Steve Madden, I can now have both. While the quality doesn’t compare to Gucci loafers, I love being able to dive into a trend without breaking the bank (more affordable loafers here).

They didn’t have size 5 on the website, so I ended up going with a 5.5. They obviously run big, but the shearling detail actually helps hide any extra length (reviews on the site say they run small). The only downside, the shearling makes me feet sweaty (sorry if that’s TMI). Not sure how these will feel on a hot summer day, but I love them for cooler days when you want to wear flats and still need extra warmth.

  • I like this whole outfit, except… for the shoes. I totally understand that it’s personal taste, but I think the furry loafers are just bizarre. On that note, I’m also not crazy about when another brand literally just copies a high-end design. I mean companies obviously take inspiration from high-end styles, and each other, that’s fine. I mean how many brands offer awesome black loafers now! But the only thing you can do with those Gucci furry loafers is to copy them exactly because they are so unique. That just seems sad to me. This is all just my opinion though! Do you have any thoughts on this? I really do love your style aesthetic!

    • I totally respect your opinion and get it. I happen to love this style and think they’re a super fun trend to try. Not everyone can afford $1000 loafers, so for me, it was about finding an very similar alternative for anyone who might be interested in this style. I used to think it was crazy when a lower end brand straight copied a more high brand, but the longer I’ve been in the retail/fashion business, the more I realize that’s the nature of the business. Stores are made famous for this exact model. Look at Zara, H&M, Forever 21, and yes, Steve Madden. But again, I respect your opinion and I get they’re not for everyone.
