As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, I’m in the process of redefining my style. My same love for basics and neutrals, but upping my game if you will. I love a good pair of ripped jeans and casual wear, but I think I’d like my style to be more polished around the edges. Think edgy yet tailored. Is that a thing? Well if not, I just made it up. The first item I’m looking to while going through this process is the skirt. I’ve had a rollercoaster relationship with skirts. I hated them, tried the skater/mini skirt, decided they’re so not me, and now I’m back on the skirt train. Do I have many in my closet, no. But I love the idea of them. I love what they bring to an outfit. You can dress them up or down and add your own flare (edgy, classic, tailored) to the feminine silhouette. Skirts are chic and they elevate just about any outfit, I just have to find a style I love.

I actually recently bought a couple midi styles (which I was so against just last year) and pencil skirts are as classic as they come. I snagged this Ann Taylor faux leather option on major sale and it feels like butter. We’ll see how many times I can rework this one, ha! I’ll continue documenting my skirt diaries and we’ll see if we’re still friends after a couple months. Wish me luck.
