The Summer Trench

A summer trench coat wasn’t necessarily at the top of my wishlist for summer, but when I laid eyes on this one from Asos, I ordered it immediately. I have some sort of knee jerk reaction when I find petite outerwear. They’re just so rare, so I always hit BUY right away. I’m so happy I did because I love this trench!

It’s really hard to find stylish, oversized pieces for a petite frame. The selection is very slim and on top of that oversized is a very tricky thing to play with. A lot of times oversized anything is overwhelming and not attractive. With certain angles, this coat is A LOT on me, not going to lie. But the shoulders and arms fit, so it doesn’t bother me too much. It’s not lined and it’s very lightweight, but I love that I can wear it now and into the fall. Anytime I can get multiple seasonal wears out of something, I’m a happy girl. A tip on how to make an oversized, long coat not look too overwhelming – roll the sleeves up and don’t let the material just drape, you kinda have to push it behind your arm. And a heel will always help ;)
