Weekend Recap 05

Nike Air Max Thea in gray, Nike rally hoodie

Oh, hello there Monday! This was the first weekend I took off  of work completely in I don’t know how long. And it felt amazing. I was really able to relax and spend time with family. I also watched a ton of movies. Honestly, I’m not a movie person. I maybe watched 2 movies all year last year. I watched 2 movies, Moonlight and La La Land, and a documentary, Undefeated within the last 3 days. Who am I right now? Mike and I were both hugely disappointed with Moonlight (how it won best picture and supporting actor, I don’t know) and La La Land was good, but I’m not sure how I felt about the whole musical aspect (which I knew about going into it). Have you seen either movie?

Saturday we watched my cousin’s middle school basketball tournament. Not the best basketball, but both games we saw came down to the winning basket, so that was pretty exciting (yes, I was jumping up and down cheering lol). We grabbed a bite to eat at new-to-us restaurant called Industry after the game. Looked promising, but the food wasn’t all that great and the drinks were okay.

Sunday I went to see La La Land with my aunt. I don’t think either of us would have ever seen it, but we both heard rave reviews from friends, plus, they won so many oscars, so we were intrigued. Going into it, I knew musicals weren’t my thing, but I was trying to stay open minded. I’m still not a fan of musicals, but I loved the story line. I also love Ryan Gosling as an actor (he’s weird in real life though), so that helped. I love Emma Stone, but I don’t get how she won the Oscar for best actress for this role. Was it because it was a dynamic role (singing, dancing, acting)? Clearly, I don’t know movies, so maybe I’m completely missing it.

After the movie we stopped into Madewell. I tried on this tie-front tee, which is actually really adorable (fits TTS, but runs short). I also tried the 9” high-rise skinny crop jeans which I’ve been eying. I wasn’t sure about the light wash online, but they’re actually darker in person. The length hits at my ankle (not cropped), although I did try on one size too big (Madewell rarely carries size 23 in-store). I wasn’t completely sold on the fading on the hips and thighs. Almost makes me look wider in that area. I also recently ordered this cropped jacket. It has amazing reviews, so I’ll keep you posted once it arrives.

Okay, I’m off to workout and hit up the grocery store. Cheers to a fantastic week!

How was your weekend?

When you’re constantly sharing your life on social media and the blog, it’s hard to actually takes days off from it. Once in a blue moon, it feels so good to step away.

If that’s what you call a hot mess living room, I can’t imagine what you’d say about mine! haha!

Haha – well one of the corners is still not complete, so it looks pieced together, which I can’t stand lol.

I wasnt too sold on La La Land either. I saw it xmas eve with my fourteen year old sister and we were both a bit shocked and put off by the musical aspect which we were previously unaware of (and i usually love musicals!) somehing about the lurics felt forced and unorganic although I did loved the ending sequence and actually shed a tear haha! Weird question but where is Mike’s tee from in the photo with your doggy? It looks just my boyfriends taste and ive been trying to persuade him to beef up the casual basics in his wardrobe.

Okay, I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t love the musical aspect of the movie lol. Mike’s baseball tee is from Old Navy, but I think it’s from a while back. I would check back periodically, ON always has great tees!
