Healthier Alternatives to our Summertime Favorites

Obviously, I love summer and all that comes along with this time of year. Aside from all the shorts, dresses, and wedges, we need the perfect eats to keep our short shorts in check and our bikinis fitting just the way we’d like them to. Here are some healthier alternatives to our traditional summertime favorites: skinny girl margarita, homemade sangria, and the greatest way vegetables can be prepared- on the grill.

Skinny Girl Margarita-  Shot of patron silver on the rocks, fresh squeezed lime, and a dash of cointeau. This recipe is straight from Bethenny Frankel’s Skinny Girl Margarita.  A couple of these will do the job and you don’t have to worry about all the sugary calories!

Homemade Sangria- 1 bottle of merlot, 2 bottles of Tazoberry, 2 apples, 2 oranges, cup of strawberries, 1 lemon squeezed, and 1 cup of soda water. (This was pretty much measured to taste… just work your magic).  No extra sugar added.

Corn on the cob and grilled veggie skewers (these are courtesy of Sean Reagan from last weeks BBQ- yumm)- Simply add extra virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper to your veggies prior to grilling them and voila! Seriously delicious!
