Super Bowl Sunday Snacks

Did you know on average we eat approximately 1500 calories in appetizers/snacks before and during the Big Game (this does not include lunch, dinner, or drinking)? After hearing this, I thought I would provide you with some appetizers I like to snack on during the Super Bowl. We tend to get distracted with pre-game festivities, the tension of the game, and the blurriness of one-too-many drinks near the 2nd quarter, which means we consume a lot more then we should. But just because it’s a day full of consumption and gorging, it doesn’t mean we have to make poor choices. Pre-game snacks can be healthy… think more veggies and hummus, less deep fried chicken wings!

Guilt-Free Snacks (vegan):

Chips and Salsa- get chips without chemicals or preservatives.

Mixed Fruit Bowl

Homemade Bean Dip- mashed black beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, jalapenos, onions, lettuce.

Pita Chips/Crackers/Veggies with Hummus

Edamame

Bruschetta- baguette, diced tomatoes, basil, olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper.

Mixed Nuts with Sun Drops or Dark Chocolate Raisins

Whole Foods Roasted Vegetable Pizza (dairy free)- cut these in small bites and serve on a platter.

Unsalted, Unbuttered Popcorn- drizzle with olive oil and salt.

Veggie Kabobs- bell peppers, onions, zucchini, and mushrooms.
