Every now and then when I splurge on something that’s rather basic (tee shirt, jeans, sweaters, etc.) I like to justify the purchase with how often it gets worn. This La Vie Rebecca Taylor top is on the pricier side for a blouse (for what I like to spend), but I loved the styled so much, I took a chance. It’s basic, but elevated at the same time and I love that it’s still very casual. Since it’s a neutral I knew I’d be able to wear it multiple ways and get a ton of wear out of it. For those of you who have something similar in your closet, hopefully today’s posts can provide some outfit inspiration for day, night, and to the office. Sometimes it’s nice to step away from a basic blouse and splurge on something with fun details.
A quick note – If you’re wondering what to splurge on, my advice is always going to be basic neutrals. You may think jeans are boring, but let me tell you, a great pair of jeans will last you many years. Go with pieces you know you’ll wear forever, won’t go out of style, can be mixed and matched into your existing wardrobe, and won’t show signs of wear over time. Think jeans, bags, shoes, and tops (that can be dry cleaned and preserved with care). I would try to avoid spending too much on sweaters. I’ve noticed, no matter the quality (cashmere or not), they start to pill.
