A Fitness Update + Some Favorite Athleisure Pieces
My workout/fitness journey has been all over the place since having Harper (that’s over 2 years ago). With juggling work and motherhood, staying active hasn’t been at the top of my priority list. But, I started to notice how my lack of muscle was making me feel. I was super weak and huffing and puffing going up the stairs with and without Harper. Overall, I just wasn’t feeling my best. Plus, I spend a lot of time on my phone and my computer, so it’s essential I get up and stay active for my mental health. I knew I had to make some changes.

When quarantine began back in March/April, I finally felt I had the time to dedicate at least 20 minutes every other day to some type of physical activity. I downloaded the SWEAT app and I was really finding my groove. I was working through different types of workouts and loving the different trainers. But, then I noticed I was falling off some weeks and not sticking to a regular schedule. 6 weeks ago I finally decided to commit to BBG Beginner. 1 workout plan, 1 trainer. Years ago I started doing Kayla workouts, but this was way before the SWEAT app (way before it was even called BBG). The workouts were SO hard and I couldn’t stay consistent. I dreaded her workouts. So, this time around I decided to start with Beginner BBG (even though I don’t consider myself a beginner). I knew I had to build up muscle in order to do any of her harder workouts. 6 weeks later and not only do I feel great, but I’m able to actually do the workouts and I’ve stayed consistent! I dedicate 20-30 minutes every other day to physical activity and it feels great. Mike and I are now debating the Peloton bike… we just don’t have anywhere to put it. I really do think sticking with 1 program and having some sort of schedule has helped keep me on track. I’ve always been someone who does random workouts or makes it up as I go and for some reason those aren’t as motivating to me. If you’re struggling to stay consistent, I highly recommend doing some type of program – where you’re building muscle, getting stronger and stronger everyday, and seeing results (mentally and physically).
You’ve seen my share and talk about Zella from Nordstrom over the years (they’re a Nordstrom made brand). They are one of my favorite workout and leisure wear brands – I probably have around 10 pairs of their leggings. The ⅞ leggings are my all time favorite. If you’re petite and haven’t tried these yet, they’re a MUST. I’ve tried nearly all their black leggings, but I recently picked up the Studio Pocket ⅞ leggings in Blue Weather. I thought these would be a nice pop of color for fall. I now have these in blue and black and they’re amazing. They’re the perfect workout legging – hold you in, but not too thick, and have pockets! I also recently picked up 2 new Treasure & Bone pullovers. These were such random finds, but I love them! They’re a combination of a tee shirt and sweatshirt – cozy like a sweatshirt, but thin enough to tuck into leggings or pants. I love that they’re not too bulky or heavy, I can wear them like a long sleeve tee. I’m wearing an xs and it fits perfectly. I’m wearing the white here, but also snagged the gray.
Speaking of Nordstrom Made Brands, I’m sharing more favorites from Zella, Treasure & Bond, and Leith below.

Treasure & Bond sweater xs, Zella leggings xs, Nike sneakers 5.5 // Treasure & Bond sweatshirt xs, Zella leggings xs, Nike sneakers 5.5
In these 2 images, I’m wearing the same pullover and leggings just in different colors. As mentioned above, I love these pullovers and these are my favorite workout leggings.

In the left photo I’m wearing the Zella Studio Pocket leggings (thinner for workouts) and in the right photo I’m wearing the Zella Live In leggings (thicker). Both are the 7/8 length and fit great. I use the Studio Pocket leggings for working out and the Live In leggings in the fall/winter to run errands/wear with athleisure outfits.
Zella hoodie xxs (runs super big), Zella shorts xs, Ugg slippers 5 // Zella sweatshirt xs (runs big), Zella shorts xs
Here are two lounge sets from Zella. The hoodie runs extremely oversized, so size down 1-2 sizes. I’m wearing the xxs and I’m swimming it in.
Treasure & Bond sweater xs, Madewell jeans, Gucci mules 35 // Leith turtleneck xs, Madewell jeans, Gucci mules 35
The Treasure & Bond sweater is super cozy and soft. I love a good v-neck on sweaters, especially when it’s the perfect length. This one is super flattering. The Leith turtleneck sweater is a bit more oversized in the arms than I thought. It has a cropped fit, but I actually like it for tucking into high rise denim.
