Denim Review with Nordstrom
As fall approaches, one of the many trends I look forward to is denim. I’m a denim girl at heart, always have been, always will be. They’re what I feel most comfortable in, but also what I feel most sexiest in. Not only are jeans essential once the weather cools down, but they’re the one piece you’ll reach for most often. Since they play such a major role in the upcoming seasons, finding the right pair is critical. It’s actually one of the more exciting seasons for denim because there’s so many great styles and washes on-trend right now. Yes, skinny jeans are still going strong, but now you have high-waisted, cropped straight, cropped flare, vintage, distressed boyfriend, raw hem, step hem, girlfriend, and I’m sure many more. For someone who makes a big deal out of denim shopping, I’m so excited to try all the new styles!
I happen to shop for most, if not all, my jeans at Nordstrom. I love being able to shop all the different brands in one spot, but also discover new-to-me on-trend affordable brands as well. I found these boyfriend jeans by Treasure & Bond during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and LOVE them (see me style them here). I also stumbled upon these from STS Blue while in-store and was immediately sold on the fit and distressing. I had never tried either of the brands, but ended up loving them. Best part, both are under $100!
I also recently tried a few Topshop jeans from Nordstrom. I have always really loved their on-trend styles and affordable price-point, but never understood the sizing, so I shied away… until now. I’m so excited to review the Jamie Ripped High Rise Ankle Skinny Jeans, Topshop Moto Leigh Summer Pansy Crop Skinny Jeans, the Lucus Ripped Boyfriend Jeans. I tried all of them in the petite size, but all the styles come in regular sizing as well. Continue reading for my reviews.
Topshop Jamie Ripped High Rise Ankle Skinny Jeans (petite and went up 1 size)
High-waisted jeans have been on my radar for a while now. While I don’t think I have the body for them, I wanted to give these Jamie high rise ankle jeans a shot. The dark wash is super flattering and the ankle length fits true to size. Any time a jeans fit right at the ankle, I know there’s a ton of potential. These look tiny out of the box / on the hanger, but there is quite a bit of stretch. I’m wearing 25×28, which fit perfectly, although I could have went up even one more size for a more relaxed fit. High waisted jeans are not for everyone, which I totally get. But, if you like the whole vintage feel, these are a great dark wash option that won’t break the bank. Just make sure you size up 1 or 2 sizes.

Topshop Moto Leigh – Summer Pansy Crop Skinny Jeans (petite and went up 1 size)
The Moto Leigh skinny jeans are one of the softest pair of jeans I’ve ever tried on. I don’t normally gravitate toward this wash, due to it’s lack of fade, which tend to make my legs look short and stumpy, but I really liked the cropped aspect of them and the way they looked on the model. I’m wearing the 25×28 and the fit is perfect in the waist, butt, thighs, and length, however they are not cropped even with the petite length. If you don’t mind wearing these as regular jeans, not cropped, they do fit extremely well. I’m a dark wash kind of girl, but if you’re looking for a medium blue wash with no fade, I would highly recommend these. They do run on the thin side and have a lot of stretch (although, haven’t stretched out in the thighs and butt). As with any jeans (petite or regular), always check the inseam.

Topshop ‘Lucus’ Ripped Boyfriend Jeans (petite, went with my normal size)
The Lucus boyfriend jeans are another very soft and comfortable pair of jeans from Topshop. I’ve talked about it several times on the blog, I’ve had the hardest time finding skinny boyfriend jeans that don’t overwhelm my petite frame. Well, that has been solved folks. These boyfriend jeans are just that. I’m wearing the 24×28, although could have gone with a 25×28 for a less snug fit. From the length to the ripped knees, everything fits perfectly. They’re form fitting in the butt and thighs, but relaxed in the knees and calves. They’re tapered without loosing the boyfriend feel. Honestly, I’m in shock at how well they fit. I can’t wait to add some wear and tear to these, so they become even more distressed and worn-in. If you’re looking for a pair of dark wash skinny boyfriend jeans, these are hands down my pick. Warning you now, you will be seeing these a lot this fall.
