A couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to check out the new Lou & Grey store at Santana Row. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the retailer, they’re actually part of the Ann Taylor brand (as is Loft.com). Lou & Grey is like they’re tomboy sister. It’s a mix of active and street wear, which they’re calling lifewear, with more loungey and sporty pieces in pale and muted tones. It’s kinda like a neutral lovers, basic wearers, tomboy’s one-stop-shop (ahem, me!).

I’m so glad the Santana Row location was one of the first batch of stores to go up because it’s beautiful. It has that boutique-y feel, really pretty light, and for those of you who love design and decor, this store is a dream.  Besides all the amazing basics, they also have home decor pieces, books, accessories, jewelry, and showcase items from small shop owners (like those planters above). If you’re in the Bay Area, I would highly suggest stopping in. If you don’t end up taking anything home, at least you’ll get some home decor inspiration.

Before the opening of the Santana Row location, I had my eye on a handful of pieces after browsing the Lou & Grey selection on Loft.com. The neutral color palette plus the casual feel to the clothes really drew me in. Since I’m small and struggle with sizing when ordering online, I’m glad I was able to make my first purchases in-person. They currently only offer regular sizes and xs in-store, whereas online they offer petites and xxs. I would say the sizing runs big, so size down.

I’m all about comfort and that’s exactly what the above outfit is all about. I love the look and feel of the structured skirt. You can dress it up, but the casual sweatshirt material provides a nice balance. The scarf is all kinds of amazing too! It comes in a variety of different shades of grey and it’s SO soft. After doing some damage in-store, I found a couple pieces online in xxs! The cream sweater I’m wearing above is a xxs petite and the fit is amazing. It’s been on repeat since it landed on my doorstep. So good! The mini skirt (in xxs) is another one on heavy rotation. It’s incredibly comfortable, moves nicely, and again, I’m loving the sweatshirt material. If you’re looking to stock up on great basics or lifewear pieces, be sure to check out the entire collection here.

Has anyone else stopped by the new Santana Row location? If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts. And for the rest of you who don’t have access to a store, you can shop all Lou & Grey pieces at Loft.com.
