Shopbop’s Event of the Season: At-Home Try On’s
Are you all shopped out yet? As planned, I’m sharing my at-home try on’s from Shopbop Event of the Season sale. I tried to try everything on with older pieces that are also on sale (Madewell lace-up flats, Soludos espadrilles, and One Teaspoon Bandit shorts) and linked them at the end of the post. Also, Shopbop has restocked my Clare V. Alice tote for any of you interested. It’s a great spring to summer tote that goes with everything. It’s extremely roomy and the round shape is on trend for this season. Let me know if you have any questions about fit or quality in the comment section below. Happy shopping!
English Factory ruffle off the shoulder top (xs) – Super sad this top is too oversized. It fits well in the arms and shoulders, but the length almost fits like a dress on me. It’s too bad because I just adore the striped ruffle detail. For those of you worried about if it’s see through – I was wearing a nude bra and you couldn’t see anything. If you adore this top as much as I do and are able to size down (or are tall), this is a great fun option that can be dressed or down.
English Factory button down blouse (xs) – I adore the shape and look of this blouse, but it definitely runs large. You can’t tell from the photos, but there’s actually stripes that run along the blue parts of the top. Love the blue and white combination – it’s so refreshing for spring. A great warm weather top if you can size down.
Endless Rose Ruffle Shirt (xs) – For some reason I thought this top was more of a tee-shirt than a blouse, but I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. The sleeves are a lot fluffier than they appear on the model, but since there’s good weight to the top, they move beautifully. The length is also shorter than I thought. I can still tuck it in, but it sits on top of my hips. Since it’s on the shorter side, it’s a great option for petites. You can’t tell in these photos, but keep in mind, the top runs a bit sheer. Also comes in black.
Equipment Ainsley Floral Blouse (xs) – I’ve been obsessed with this blouse for months. It’s even prettier in person, too! I love florals in the spring, but oftentimes tops or dresses are way over the top. This one is the perfect balance. It’s festive with the floral print, but still seems like a neutral, if that makes sense. I’m still debating whether to keep it or not. It’s oversized and quite big, but it’s so darn beautiful. I really wish the xs wasn’t so big :(
Free People Carolina Mindset Embroidered Top (xs) – I was immediately drawn to the fun print and gorgeous back details. The arms are wide and billowy, something you can’t really tell from the photos on the website. I’m not a big cropped top person, but you can make this work without showing too much skin by pairing it with shorts or high waisted jeans. It’s statement top that will get attention, for sure. It runs a little large on me, so I am able to wear it off one shoulder, although I don’t think it’s meant to do that. For a more fitted look, I would size down.
Free People High Rise Busted Skinny Jeans (24) – I ordered these the same day as the Levi’s 721 high rise distressed jeans with hopes 1 of 2 would work. I’m glad the Levi’s fit, because these didn’t. The inseam ran long, so the photos show them rolled under. The wash was just lighter than the Levi’s (very similar, though), but the rips sat below my knees. These are also a lot thinner and stretchier than the Levi’s. The denim wasn’t as soft as I would like, but since there’s so much stretch, I think they would become softer with time. One thing I’ve noticed after trying on so many distressed jeans – with cropped jeans, the rips never land on my knees. If you’re petite, you have to go with regular length jeans and have them either tailored or DIY the hems. In general, I think these are a great option for distressed skinny jeans. They’re affordable, TTS, and flattering. You just need to be taller than 5’2” in order to pull them off.
Free People Army Tee (xs) – My love for all things blush is at an all time high, so when I spotted this tee, I had to have it. It runs oversized, but it’s incredibly soft, slouchy, and comfortable. It’s one of those tees that drape perfectly when tucked into your jeans.
Free People Dani Tee (xs) – This is one of those pieces from Free People that would be ideal for us petite girls (a lot of times Free People runs oversized). The material is super soft and drapes well (it almost has that whole swinging vibe). While the xs fits, I think I would like the fit of the small a little better. Because of the style of the tee, something longer and more oversized would look better and be easier to style. An easy, breezy basic perfect for spring and summer.
Scotch & Soda Home Alone Hoodie (0) – You know I’m on a sweatshirt/hoodie binge, so when I spotted this striped one, I had to have it! The size 0 runs fairly long, but it fits across the shoulders and torso. It’s not as soft as I expected it to be, but I just adore the striped print. It’s on double sale for any of you interested.
Free People Soft & Relaxed Denim Shorts (24) – I had read reviews these were comparable to One Teaspoon Bandit shorts, but sadly, I will have to disagree. I do love the look to these – the wash, cut, inseam. But, they’re a little too fitted for my liking when it comes to denim shorts. Maybe if I went up a size they would feel a bit more like the Bandits. With that being said, these are more affordable than the ON shorts, so they’re a great alternative. Size up if you’re looking for the same fit, though.
Levi’s 721 High Rise Distressed Skinny Jeans (24) – I raved about these yesterday, but in case you missed it, I’m giving you all the details again. One of my favorite purchases this year! The perfect medium wash jeans with great distressing, and an awesome fit. I had heard great things about the high rise 721 jeans from a few other bloggers, so once they came back in stock, I ordered them. I was nervous the rips would end up landing on my shins, but I’m so happy they don’t. I took my normal size and while they fit snug at first, they do stretch out a bit with wear. As you can see, I had to cut a couple inches off the length (they run pretty long). If you’re looking for a pair of distressed skinny jeans, I would highly recommend these (run TTS). They’re at a great price point too!
J.O.A. cold shoulder top (xs) – I just adore this top. It’s not quite cropped, but it runs short. If you have a long torso, or hate short tops, this may not be the one for you. I happen to think it looks great with shorts or high waisted jeans. It’s lined, so need to worry about it being sheer. I love that the sleeves are separate from the top (if that makes sense). This allows you to move your arms without having your entire shirt ride up. Keep in mind it’s a heavier linen material, so it will wrinkle pretty easy. For those of you interested it now comes in a soft blue as well and it fits TTS.
