The New Neutral + Asos Review
Photos by Natalie Dressed
I have a little secret. I’ve been cheating on tan. I don’t typically discriminate when it comes to neutrals, but lately, I’ve been gravitating toward all things grey (all 50 shades of them). This coat from Asos might have started the obsession and since I like to color coordinate my looks, the Madewell pumps came next, and now I’m on the search for a bag. Once I get on a color kick, I go all in. I know I’m crazy.
Anyway, let’s talk about this amazing trench coat. I was so excited I snatched this trench in a 00 petite. I didn’t know what to expect in terms of fit, but I was super excited and surprised, the shoulders and armpits fit perfectly! Although I thought the jacket fit really well when I tried it on, after looking back at these photos, I may actually get the arms hemmed and the bottom hem taken up a few inches (just personal preference). While the jacket isn’t super thick and not a coat by any means, the lining and weight of the jacket provide enough warmth to transition from fall to winter (in California). Between the stone grey color, the large collar, and the draping in the front, I could not be more obsessed with this jacket!
As a side note. Asos sizing always throws me for a loop. In some instances an item will run small and other times it will run big. After several years of experience now, I think I may have figured out some general rules when ordering (with exceptions I’m sure). Below are the sizes I order for each category.
Dresses & Coats: Runs big. I always get their smallest size (P 00 if possible).
Tops: Runs small. US 4
Shoes: TTS ( 5 always fits)
Pants, Jeans, Shorts: I haven’t ordered enough in this category, so I’m not really sure. If you’ve had experience, please share your feedback, I’d love to add it to this post.
Skirts: Run TTS. US 2
Swimwear: One piece TTS // Bikini tops runs large.
