Wear Now, Wear Later Transitional Dresses
Look 1: Topshop dress (also comes in black), Blank NYC denim jacket, Steve Madden heels, J.Crew clutch, Ray-Ban aviators // Look 2: Topshop dress, BB Dakota jacket, Steve Madden heels, Rebecca Minkoff shoulder bag, Ray-Ban aviators
I don’t normally gravitate toward prints, let alone a printed dress, but this one from Nordstrom is stunning! Although the dress is meant to be more midi, it’s a cropped maxi on me, which I’m totally not mad at. The ruffles and cut-out details really make the dress special, and the silhouette is universally flattering.
As we near the end of summer, I find myself struggling with purchasing summer clothes. My mind starts to think all things fall, and it seems silly to continue buying shorts and tanks, when in just a couple of weeks, we’ll enter autumn. This is where transitional pieces come into play. Those pieces you can wear now and later. This dress is exactly that. While it seems like it’s your quintessential summer dress, by swapping a couple accessories, you can turn it into an early fall staple. As I mentioned it in this post, playing with texture and tones can really make all the difference. By pairing this dress with a black leather jacket and bag, you can easily get away with a cream floral dress in September.
P.s. Nearly every piece I’m wearing is under $100 (minus the bag and sunglasses). One of the many things I love so much about Nordstrom is the large selection of affordable styles. Any time I’m looking for either on-trend or classic pieces that won’t break the bank, I can always count on Nordstrom.com. BTW- there’s so much more selection online versus in-store.
I’m sharing more affordable transitional dress below.
