Weekend Recap 20
Happy Monday, friends! It finally looks like we’re out of Jun-u-ary (January in June). We’ve had some pretty gloomy weather the past couple of weeks, however, yesterday the sun came out and temps we’re in the high 70’s. Right now it shows at least 3 weeks of good weather. This could finally be summer (what!!!!). The allergies on the hand are at an all time high. This may be the worst I’ve ever experienced (and I used to suffer from really bad allergies as a kid). I’m finally taking Claritin, but not even that is completely helping. I’ve been a miserable hot mess for the past week. I’m starting to feel bad for Mike, who has to deal with me. At this point my days will consist of me laying in bed, with all the windows closed, and AC on high. If you know of any type of relief, I’m all ears.

Friday, Mike and I headed out to breakfast at La Provence before I had to go in and give blood. I’m terrible with needles and blood, so breakfast was Mike’s way of getting me there (although, as a side note, breakfast is my least favorite meal of the day). We took a work call at noon and then pretty much called it a day. My allergies were making me sleepy, so I kind of lounged and was unproductive on the computer for the rest of the afternoon. We ended up ordering pizza from a new-to-us pizza place, Perfect Pizza. First off, we don’t order pizza, ever. Second, I’m bad at trying anything new. When I agreed to trying this place, Mike made a comment like, “wow, I feel like we’re being normal people today,” lol. Yeah, I’m one of those kinds of people. Anyway, we enjoyed huge pizzas while binge watching House of Cards. We’re officially done with season 5. While I’m sad it’s already over, there was so much to take in this season. Between falling in and out of sleep every other episode and the million story lines, I’m not sure I even know what’s going on. And what about the crazy scene in I think the 2nd to last episode (!!!!). Who else is watching?
Saturday was a work day. We headed downtown to shoot a handful of projects before heading to a new Mexican restaurant, Alto Bajo. It’s attached to the new Hi-Lo hotel, which is absolutely gorgeous, btw. The decor is on point, but they have a very limited menu, especially for vegans. Definitely worth trying though, good chips and guac and the interior is very Instagrammable. The rest of the day was spent dozing off while watching the Hunger Games series on TV. A very lazy night indeed (sometimes we need those).

Sunday I woke up early to grab coffee, bagels, and make a Whole Foods run. I figured the pups and I could celebrate Father’s Day with Mike. With all the new dog training we have going on, he’s been so hands on and awesome. Super, super thankful for all he does. I got as much work in as possible before we headed to my aunt’s for a Father’s Day BBQ. It’s definitely not easy spending Father’s Day away from my dad, but I’m so glad we have family here to make holidays like this special.
Speaking of my dad, I’m so excited to be heading to the Bay Area at the end of July. We’ll be there for my grandma’s 80th birthday celebration. We haven’t spent time in San Jose since last October, so to say I’m excited would be a huge understatement. For some reason I’ve been feeling super homesick lately. Maybe it’s the weather or maybe it’s the lack of good Mexican food here. Regardless, I’m pumped to spend time with family, get away from the office, and eat at all my favorite restaurants, lol.
How was your weekend? And if you know of any allergy remedies/relief, I’d love to hear about them!
