Your Guide to Buying Levi’s Jeans

Your guide to shopping Levi's Jeans

I had my eye on several pairs of Levi’s jeans and then I started to see more I liked. They all had different fits and I wasn’t sure which styles I liked and which styles would fit me best. I have 2 other pairs of Levi’s jeans and I bought them based on 1. The look and 2. Seeing them on another person. I couldn’t even tell you what style they were. This got me thinking… “I should order a handful of different styles and do a review of sort and share my findings with my readers.” And just like that, this post was born. I shared a sneak peak on Stories and recieved many DM’s saying you’re really pumped for this post as well. It looks like I’m not the only one confused by the 100 different washes and fits of Levi’s jeans, lol. Read on for my fit review of 4 styles of Levi’s jeans.

Levi's Wedgie Straight Jeans

Levi’s Wedgie Straight Jeans size 24. Wash: Uncovered Truth

After looking at both of my Levi’s I already own, I realized I own a pair of Wedgie Straight jeans. This style takes on the fit of the Wedgie Icon, but instead of a tapered leg, it has a straight leg. It’s fitted in the hips and thighs and then starts to straighten out around the knee. These fit extremely snug at the beginning. I didn’t think they had hope, but the pair I already own started to break in after wearing them for a full day recently. So, while they run snug at the beginning, I don’t know if I would size up. If you’re in-between sizes, you may consider sizing up. I love the wash on these, but sadly, the rips land below my knees. I didn’t keep these, but these are a great option if you’re looking for a pair of high-waisted straight legged denim.

Levi's 501 Originals Non-Stretch

When I ordered these, I didn’t realize they weren’t as popular as some of the other fits. You won’t find this fit in a lot of stores, but they do have quite a few washes on levis.com. Regardless, let’s talk fit. These are non-stretch, but they don’t run tight. On me, they’re loose all the way around – thigh, hips, waists, legs. I almost think sizing down would have been my best bet. They are really comfortable, though. If fitted correctly, they take on a similar shape to the straight jeans. These are 15” at the knee and at the leg opening.

Levi's Wedgie jeans

These have a nearly identical fit as the Wedgie straight, except they have a tapered leg. They’re snug in the hip and thighs and run snug around the waist at the beginning. They need time to wear in. Again, I wouldn’t size up unless your in-between sizes. Think of these as high-waisted mom jeans. Of the Wedgie Straight and Wedgie Icon, I would say the Wedgie Icon is more flattering on a petite frame. Both Wedgie styles aren’t the most comfortable – tight and high waisted, but I do love the look of them on.

Levi's 501 Skinny Jeans

Levi’s 501 Skinny Jeans size 24. Wash: Sansome Street

The biggest surprise of doing this entire Levi’s try-on review is the fact that the 501 Skinny jeans are my favorite! If I would have looked at one of the pairs I already own, I would have known this (but I had to dig to find the old order email to find the style). The 501 Skinny jeans do not fit like your typically skinny jeans, at least not on me. They’re looser and fit more like a skinny relaxed jean. They have all the qualities of the Wedgie Icon – high waisted, tapered leg – but they’re not tight and uncomfortable anywhere. In fact, they’re SUPER comfortable. The ones pictured here fit a little loose for my liking, but I remember with the older pair I have, they shrink a little in the wash, and end up fitting perfectly.  The only reason I didn’t keep this pair, the rips land a little low on me, making the proportions look weird and unflattering. I did however, order this pair and despite negative reviews, the fit is amazing and the rips land on my knee.

My Biggest Takeaways

The Wedgie Straight and Wedgie Icon are really cute on, but not the most comfortable (for sitting, eating, etc.), the 501 Originals do not fit well on petite frames, and the 501 Skinny jeans are hands down my favorite fit and should be noted, they fit more like a boyfriend/relaxed skinny jean. I hope this post helps you better understand the different fits of Levi’s. I’ve already started looking at more Levi’s online and I have a way better understanding of the fits now.
