Favorite Purchases from 2017
This post is a little later than I had planned, but last year I shared my favorite purchases from the previous year and it seems like you guys enjoyed it. Picking favorites from 2017 wasn’t the easiest considering I didn’t buy a ton of investment or classic pieces due to being pregnant. When I go to choose favorite items I think about how often I wear them, practically, and whether or not I’m still wearing them into the new year. Below are 13 of my favorite purchases from 2017 and I’m telling you exactly why I’ll be wearing / using all of them in 2018.
I randomly stumbled upon this coatigan while browsing at Aritzia. I love when window shopping turns into a great buy. I wore this sweater coat in 2017 so much, it’s almost ridiculous. But, let’s face it, wearing something on repeat are signs it was a great purchase, right?! It’s warm enough to wear in the winter (with a couple layers), but it doesn’t look or feel like heavy duty coat. The simple silhouette is super chic and love the longer length. I wore this coat so much, I bought it in camel as well. Sadly, these are sold out online, but if you happen to drop into your nearest Aritzia, I would try to hunt it down. I’m excited to wear both of these into spring as well.
I originally had the Cult Gaia large Ark bag, but after seeing it in my photos, it was way too large for me. I ended up selling that one and getting the small. This bag has been super popular over the years and while it’s very trendy, I actually get a ton of wear out of it in the spring and summer. I love that it can be dressed up or down and gives off the perfect warm weather vibes. These have had trouble staying in-stock the last couple of years, so if you’re interested, I would suggest getting one now!
This bag had been on my wishlist for so long. I’m not typically a monogrammed bag kinda person, but every time I saw this bag styled, I fell in love with even more. The color works perfectly in my closet and it’s the perfect size. It holds all the essentials: full sized wallet, sunglasses, iphone, and small makeup bag. I can’t wait to style this for spring and summer!
Ingrid & Isabel Maternity Leggings Size 1
I lived in these during my pregnancy. If I’ve ever worn a piece to death, it would be these. I had / have 3 pairs (2 capris and 1 regular length). They have mixed reviews online. Yes, they’re thin and yes, they do slide down. But, I actually preferred the thin material (when you’re pregnant, it gets hot) and if you pull the leggings up enough, they stay put for the most part. I’m actually still wearing these nearly everyday postpartum. They’re just so darn comfortable and they’re perfect for my healing incision (C-Section problems).
Isabel Mirant Etoile Yukio Swiss-Dot Maxi Dress Size 34 (sold out)
I wore this dress for my baby shower and while it was a splurge, I’ve already gotten a ton of wear out of it. It’s one of those pieces that you lay eyes on and can’t stop thinking about. I love the full length and long sleeves and the little details that make it stand out. I know I’ll wear this dress for seasons to come. I ordered it in my normal size, so I could wear it post-pregnancy!
The Alara hat had been on my wishlist for months. I initially got the gray color because it was on sale, but eventually got the brown one once it was restocked. Hats aren’t the easiest accessory to shop for me. My head size is small and is always in-between sizes. Hats are either too small or too big or the brim is too overwhelming. This style fits perfectly and it’s a classic shape, which means I can wear it for years. These are pricey, but if you wear hats, they’re a great investment piece (the quality is superb). As a mom, I have a feeling hats will be my new best friend.
MAC Nude Matte Lipstick in Yash
After many misses, I finally found my perfect nude lip color. MAC nude matte lipstick in Yash paired with MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in Nice N Spicy. This combo pairs well with my daily makeup routine, which I feel like isn’t always the easiest to find. A staple for sure!
I bought this in the fall when temps already started to drop, so I haven’t been able to wear it a ton yet. BUT, I love it so much. It had been so difficult to find an oversized, boyfriend style blazer that fits my frame. This one is nearly perfect. It’s so simple, but chic at the same time. I know I’ll have this piece in my closet for years to come.
I’ve mentioned these a lot on my Instagram, but in case you didn’t hear, they’re my favorite and most-worn sneakers. I wore these a ton, but even more so during my pregnancy. They’re SO comfortable. Like the most comfortable sneakers I’ve ever owned. They’re easy to slip on (as in I don’t have to tie and untie them) and they’re chic, which is perfect for athleisure looks. I couldn’t recommend them more. I may even have to buy another pair!
This was one of my most worn pieces at the beginning of the year. I have the gray and black versions and wouldn’t mind the oatmeal color as well. I love how simple, yet chic it is. It’s thick and soft and easy to throw on. If you’re looking for more elevated comfy pieces, this is a great staple for athleisure looks.
Stuart Weitzman Thighland Boots 4.5
I bought these at the end of the year and I’m so glad I scored them because it appears they’re no longer making this style (at least as of right now). They have a short 2.5” heel, which is the perfect in-between heel. The mid heel allows you to dress them up or down, making them super versatile. They’re also incredibly comfortable (I’ve been on my feet in these, while pregnant and didn’t have any issues). The pointed heel is not for everyone, but I happen to think they’re chic. The quality of Stuart Weitzman OTK boots can’t be beat and I just love the beautiful soft gray color. If you’re able to snag these on sale right now, you won’t be disappointed one bit!
I first bought the regular length version of these leggings and fell in love with the fit and quality. Once I realized their midi styles hit right at the ankle on me, I became obsessed with them even more. I probably now have 5-6 pairs. If you’re looking for petite-friendly leggings, I would highly recommend checking these out. And even if you’re not petite, the regular length leggings are great quality, especially for the price.
Bernardo Coats petite xs
I became obsessed with these coats a couple years ago. I’ve talked about this brand countless times on the blog, but they’re my favorite and I couldn’t recommend them more. Lightweight, warm, water-resistant, and perfectly tailored. I have 2 short versions and 2 long versions. I wear one of my Bernardo coats at least once a day – to run errands or walk the dogs. Hands down, my favorite puffer coat brand!
