I wouldn’t consider myself a sequin person, but there’s something about the holidays that lead me down that road. If you’re going to do sequins, now’s the time, you know? I also think there’s a way to do it and there’s a way it looks really tacky. Some girls can really pull off the short dresses, while others go too short, too tight, and too much skin. As I talked about in my Holiday Wear: LBD post, I like to stick with a little balance. If I go short, I choose the dress with long sleeves. Or if I go tight, I choose the dress that’s more midi length. Also, since sequins is already a little fun and sexy, the rest of the dress can be more subtle (as in the silhouette).
I fell in love with this midi dress from J.Crew. While I know it would have looked 1000x better if I wasn’t pregnant, I couldn’t resist. This dress is such a statement and I love the bold, large size silver sequin pieces. I ordered a 00 and it still fit with the bump, which means, it runs a little big. The straps are adjustable (simply tie in a bow), making it a little more versatile. The dress does run heavy, so keep that in mind. I do wish this dress came in petite sizes. The length runs a little long for my liking, but it still definitely works, especially with heels.
