October’s Mood
Happy October, friends! One of the best months of the year, don’t you think? The weather starts to cool down, the leaves start to change, all our favorite shows come back on, and you get to start wearing all the layers you just bought, lol. I’m only realizing how fantastic October is now that I’m older. I wasn’t a big fan of Halloween over the years and never really noticed the pretty autumn leaves growing up in California, but now that we have Harper and live in Oregon, it’s so much fun and SO pretty.
On top of our kitchen renovation this month, we’re gearing up for our busiest time of year, holiday! I’ll be asking you what type of content you want to see over on Stories, stay tuned. We’re even thinking of tackling gift guides this year… which I haven’t done in over 5+ years. Holiday is always a little bit daunting, but also exciting at the same time. I can’t wait to share what we have in-store this year!
Follow along on Stories for all the behind the scenes of our kitchen renovation.
Best Time of Year in Portland
The leaves are starting to turn and it’s so beautiful in Oregon right now. It really changes my entire mood and has given me a sense of normalcy (with all things considering). Fall weather brings comfort and the feelings of being home.
Kitchen Renovation Starts This Month
Our kitchen renovation starts on Monday!!! We’ll spend the weekend taking everything out of the kitchen and mentally preparing for 10 days – 2 weeks of dust and takeout. I’ve never done any renovations while living in the house, so we’ll see how this goes. But, the beautiful kitchen will be worth it. Can’t wait to start sharing progress pics!
Pumpkin Patch Hoping
We visited our first pumpkin patch last week. I never realized this, but when you have kids in Oregon (maybe PNW in general), in October you pumpkin patch hop – you visit different farms and check out all the fun activities for kids. Growing up, we would stop by a pumpkin patch on the side of the highway where all they had were pumpkins. Here, there’s games, rides, animals, food, music – you can make a whole day out of it.
Outerwear Season is Here!
I can share a blog post on this soon, but I feel like I’ve ordered every outerwear piece there is, lol. But, I know from experience, if you don’t jump on petite coats, everything will be gone. I’m still in the process of going through them, so not sure what I’m keeping and I’m what I’m sending back. I do appreciate the amount of petite options this season (usually there’s few pickings).

Halloween 2020
Halloween last year was so fun, so hopefully we can make the most of it this year. I’ll have to see what other families are doing. Harper is at the age where she understands the idea of “dressing up,” but when I ask her if she wants to dress in a costume, she says she doesn’t want to be anything, lol. She might get a kick out of all us dressing up this year… although I’m usually not a costume person. We’ll see what happens. What are you guys doing?
More Storage
It’s officially time to bring out all my fall/winter clothes from storage. I’ve delayed this because I don’t have anywhere to put anything. I always try to stick to the rule, “if it doesn’t all fit in my office/closet, then it’s time to get rid of stuff.” Yeah, that’s not working. While I do need to do a big Poshmark sale, my coats and outerwear are dominating my life. They take up so much space, so I’m not all to blame lol. I wanted to order another IKEA pax wardrobe system, but the pax system pieces are hit and miss with inventory and they’re not delivering to my area right now (weird). As an alternative, I’m looking into this dresser (to put in Mike’s closet) and another one of these clothing racks.
Fall Trend: Combat Boots
Combat boots are huge right now and so many of you are asking for my recommendations for petites. I just recorded my 3 boot try-on and I’m excited to share, I think I found my perfect pair! If you’re petite, you know combat boots that are flattering are very hard to find. I’ll share my thoughts and tips in a blog post soon, stay tuned!

Beauty Restock
I’m officially out of all my go-to beauty products. I’m doing a big order today and thought I’d share a blog post this month on my favorite beauty products I use daily. I only really started to get into skincare at the beginning of quarantine – I tried a good amount of products – and now I know what I really like and what really works for me. Stay tuned!
