Recent Buys + Try Ons
Happy Wednesday! If you need a little pick me, this is just the post for you. I’m sharing some recent buys and try on’s from the last couple of months or so. Ever since collaborating with Abercrombie & Fitch over the summer, I’ve been intrigued with their rebrand. I’ve noticed their pieces becoming more classic and neutral and less young and logo-dominate. After trying on a few pieces in-store and liking the smaller / petite-friendly sizing, I decided to order a bunch of things from their website. Sadly, the fit on most everything was still too big, but I thought I’d show you what I ordered, what I kept, and what I think is worth checking out. I’m also trying on pieces from Blank NYC, Levis, Asos, Banana Republic, and showing you Cult Gaia’s Ark bag in both sizes.
Abercrombie & Fitch NEP yarn cardigan (xs, on sale!) – The second I saw this marbled brown cardigan, I had to check it out! The color is perfect for fall and I love how it drapes. The perfect grandpa sweater. Sadly, it’s too big. I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be oversized, but if the torso was smaller with less fabric I would have dealt with the ultra long sleeves. Bummer, cause it’s super cute!
Abercrombie & Fitch hard shell performance jacket (xs) – This hardshell coat is pretty close to perfection. I wish it had cinch ties at the waist because it runs slightly big right there. I was planning on wearing this as a rain coat since it’s water and wind resistent, but sadly it’s a tad too big. Really warm and cozy, though. The color is a nice neutral too! Comes in black, blue, green, and red.
Abercrombie & Fitch fleece (xs) – I saw this fleece in-store and had to have it. I’m a fan of anything with a huge collar, so this one was a no brainer. The xs fits extremely well and the fleece is soft and warm. If you’re looking for a chic fleece, this one is awesome!
J.Crew lounge pants (petite xxs) – Although I ordered these lounge pant in petite, they run long. Despite needing to hem them, I decided to keep them for their classic stripe print. I can never say no to stripes plus, they’re so soft and comfortable. They do have a weird inseam, just FYI.
Abercrombie & Fitch tunic crew sweatshirt (xs, on sale!) – This is one of the other Abercrombie & Fitch pieces that I kept. I mean, how cozy is the shearling material?! There’s no shearling on the inside of the sweater, but it’s still actually extremely warm. Fits TTS and comes in black as well. The zippers are functional, so you can either zip them up and show off a shirt underneath or zip them down.
Abercrombie & Fitch sherpa-lined parka (xs) – This parka is pretty awesome for the price. Shearling detail on the inside of the coat (not in the sleeves). Great quality, soft, warm, and super comfortable. I really wanted this one to work, but it ran slightly long for my liking. I know parkas are supposed to run a little longer on the back, but I didn’t completely love the fit, so decided not to keep it. If you’re above 5ft and looking for a parka, I would highly recommend checking this one out. Comes in green and gray as well.
Abercrombie & Fitch boxy cable turtleneck sweater (xs) – Another piece I really wanted to work, but didn’t. I love how this mock neck sweater drapes similarly to a poncho. This would have been great with skinny jeans and leggings. One of the coziest and softest sweaters I’ve tried on. You may not be able to tell in the photos, but I was swimming in this one. I would recommend sizing down.
Asos velvet cami dress (petite xs) – I’ve been on the hunt for cami dresses to wear over long sleeve tops for a while and I hit the jackpot with this one. I was nervous it was going to be skin tight, but luckily it falls perfectly. I will need to take the length up just a bit, but since the dress was such a good price and I doubt I’ll find a dress that fits off the rack, I don’t mind at all. Can’t wait to wear this for the holiday season.
J.Crew Factory tissue turtleneck (xxs) – I stumbled upon these thin turtlenecks at J.Crew Factory last week during one of their blowout sales. I’m so glad I did because I’m obsessed! They’re the perfect layering piece. I didn’t know what size to order, but ended up going with xxs (my normal size). They’re skin tight, but since I’ll be wearing them under sweaters and dresses, it works. I ended up getting the ivory (shown above), black, and gray. I have a feeling they’re going to sell out, so if you’re intersted, jump on them now!
Cult Gaia ark bag (left: small // right: large) – You’ve seen me wear this Cult Gaia birdcage bag in the large size, but I recently picked it up in small. At the time I ordered the large size, these bags were sold out everywhere, so I took whatever they had. They’ve been restocked at Shopbop and I must say, the small bag works with my petite frame much better than the large. If anyone is interested in the large bag, I’m selling it for $90 including shipping. Shoot me an email: [email protected].
Blank NYC faux leather pants (24) – These faux leather pants are awesome! They’re incredibly soft and thicker than leggings. They’re supposed to be cropped, but fit normal on me. I even have the bottom hems rolled under. They are high waisted, so keep that in mind when ordering. They seemed very fitted when I first tried them on, but they’ve since stretched out a bit (in a good way). They have functioning back pockets and faux front pockets. If you’re in the market for faux leather pants or leggings, I would highly recommend these.
Lioness blazer in taupe (xs, on sale!) – This blazer is super chic. I love the gold hardware and the relaxed fit. Reviews mentioned it ran small, which also means, fits TTS for me. I actually found it ran slightly large in the arms (length and width). If you’re petite, this jacket will work perfectly for you. It’s currently on sale and comes in black and white as well. The quality isn’t the greatest, but for the price, it’s a fun piece for the fall. The taupe color is darker in person than on the website.
Levis Wedgie Icon jeans (24) – I mentioned last week how I was going to exchange these jeans for a size up, but I actually kept them in my normal size. I tried them on again and realized they fit perfectly. I have the bottom hems rolled under, but I’ll end up cutting them. They have a more tapered skinny leg, which makes them more slimming than the Topshop jeans I was talking about in this post. These come in several different washes and colors. If you’re in the market for high waisted, straight-legged jeans, these are great!
Blank NYC Moto Jacket in Coffee Bean (left) and Toker Midnight (right) (xs) – You’ve seen me wear this moto jacket in Toker Midnight several times on the blog. The color is beautiful and the suede is thick and luxe. When the Toker Midnight color sold out, they brought it back in the Coffee Bean color. I’m obviously a big fan of anything tan, so I figured, I’d buy the Coffee Bean color and compare the two. If anyone else has been trying to get this jacket, you know it’s been sold out for months. It finally arrived and sadly, I was disappointed. I love the color, but the jacket isn’t done as well as the Toker Midnight color. It’s thinner and a little more flimsy. Months of waiting just to be returned, ugh… Does anyone else have either of these jackets? I wonder if mine has a design flaw?
Lioness blazer in black (xs, on sale!) – I loved the look of this blazer so much, I ordered it in black as well. The black with gold hardware is forever classic, chic, and super versatile.
Banana Republic jacquard peacoat (petite xxs)- BR outerwear fits extremely well on my petite frame and this peacoat is no exception. The herringbone print adds a modern touch and gives it more of an elevated look. What isn’t mentioned in the description online, the coat has a metallic finish, which isn’t my favorite. But, since you can’t really tell unless you’re up close examining the coat, I decided it’s a keeper. Fully lined with functioning pockets. I will be wearing this coat a ton, warning you now.
