Current Makeup Bag Favorites
Okay, let me preface this post by saying, I’m not a makeup or beauty connoisseur. I only recently started using more than my same 5 products and it’s only because I take photos of myself for a living, so I thought I’d start beautifying this face a little more. I’m also one of those people who can’t stand extra clutter laying around. Whether it’s clothes, products, furniture, knick knacks. If there’s no use for it, I either sell it or donate it. That, coupled with the fact that beauty has never been my thing, I rarely try new makeup. But, I want to change that. I get a ton of makeup and beauty products sent to me (which, I’m forever grateful for), so I’ve actually been trying new things. This is not a sponsored post, this is a legit post about what I wear nearly every single day. Read on for my reviews.
bareMinerals Complexion Rescue – I’ve been using the the bareMinerals bareSkin foundation for a good 6 months, but wanted something lighter for our Black Butte trip. I had used the Complexion Rescue in the past, but recently picked up a new bottle and I love the way it looks on my skin. I love it so much, I need to get it in a lighter shade for fall. It does run a little shiny, so I pair mine with a powder. It gives me great coverage, which I was pretty surprised about. If the fall/winter tends to dry your skin out, the Rescue is a great foundation option.
MAC eyeshadow in Saddle – This is one of the most universal colors on the planet! Any skin tone can pull it off. It has a matte finish and it’s highly pigmented. It’s honestly the best crease color. You can’t go wrong!
Maybelline Pumped Up Colossal Mascara paired with bareMinerals Lash Domination – I’ve been pairing 2 mascaras together for a long time. I love using an older mascara (right now it’s Maybelline’s Colossal) to prep my lashes and then I’ll go over them with Lash Domination. This always gives more length and volume.
Sonia Kashuk Chic Defining Lightening Stick – I stumbled upon this little guy in my box of random makeup and haven’t looked back. Unlike other highlighters, this one is not so shimmery. I was looking for something that simply highlighted my skin and it does just that. No glitter, no sparkles. I also love that it’s nude instead of pink. It smells delightful as well!
Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour – A lot of bloggers reviewed the Chubby Stick either last year or the year before. I had mine for months before I started using it (the fear of trying new makeup), but now that I have, I love it! I like the idea of using a cream contour and the fact that it’s a stick makes the application process super easy. The creamy consistency also seems like it stays on longer than a powder.
bareMinerals Nude Matte Lip Color in Wink – I had never tried a matte lip color in my life before this one, and I must say, I’ve been missing out. I’ve seen Kylie’s lip kits and seen her matte lips on Snapchat and while, I can only handle so much of it, I’m down with the matte lips. Wink is the perfect pink/nude on me. I love the way it dries matte and how it doesn’t smear or come off while drinking coffee. It does get pretty dry (flaking) over time, so be sure to pair it with something moisturizing.
bareMinerals Radiant Lipstick in Nudist – This is my favorite nude lipstick right now. I haven’t tried a ton, but this one is the perfect nude for my lip color. It has a demi-shine finish which I happen to like for those days I don’t want to wear a gloss on top. It’s a great everyday color. P.s. The entire Radiant Lipstick line from bareMinerals is super moisturizing.
So, there you have it. My current favorite products I’ve been using every day. Hopefully, I’ll have enough guts to show you some of these products on in a future posts, ha! I am still on the hunt for the perfect eyeliner, though. I’ve tried a ton and everything smudges under my eyes. If you use something you swear by, please let a sista know! I prefer something creamy versus a pencil or liquid liner. I’d also love to hear about anything you guys are loving right now.
