Dressing Room Diaries: Nordstrom Try On’s
My first dressing room diaries of 2017! These posts were a huge hit last year during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, so I’m making them a priority this year. I’m hoping to share a roundup like this at least once a month. Let me know your thoughts or what you would like to see me try on moving forward.
Chelsea28 ruffle sweater (wearing xs) – Loved the ruffle detail on this sweater, but didn’t love the tight fit. Ribbed sweaters that cling to the body aren’t usually my jam. I like them oversized and comfy. But, I can easily see this paired with a high waisted skirt or pair of high waisted jeans.
La Vie Rebecca Taylor ruffle sweater (wearing xs) – This sweater is absolutely beautiful! It has quite the hefty price tag for a sweater in my opinion, but it’s definitely stunning. It’s cropped and the sleeves have a billowy effect, which you can’t really see in the photos online. The xs looked tiny, so I’m trying on a small in these photos.
BP. distressed tee (wearing s)- I’m such a sucker for distressed tee shirts and this one is close to perfection. It’s thick enough to not be see-through and it also has little stretch (not drapey at all). I ended up sizing up (wearing a small) for a looser more comfy fit.
Wool and Faux leather varsity jacket (wearing xs) – I have been looking for a more typical varsity jacket with stripes along the sleeve cuff and collar. When I spotted this one, it appeared really small off the rack, so I thought I might have some success. If the sleeves on bomber jackets were easier to roll up, I could have made this one work. The torso fit extremely well and I love the way it draped over my shoulders. The other downside, the faux leather on the sleeves were really stiff. Something that could soften over time with more wears, but not 100% sure.
Vince striped sweater (wearing xs) – This sweater was my favorite try-on of the day. It’s incredibly soft and while the sleeves ran long, it fit pretty well in the shoulders and torso. Another piece with a hefty price tag, but with it’s classic silhouette and timeless striped print, I think you would get your money’s worth. This sweater also comes in navy with white stripes.
Madewell striped boyfriend shirt (wearing xs) – I’m obsessed with this shirt. Even though the description says it has a shrunken fit (on Madwell’s site), I would say it fits TTS to Madewell sizing. I tried on an xs and it still had the slightly oversized fit. I’m definitely going to order this online in xxs.
BP. distressed sweater (wearing xs) – I was immediately drawn to the distressing detail on this sweater. I was surprised with how well the shoulders and torso fit. The arms ran a little long, but I could easily roll them up. Definitely a fun, edgy piece to add to your wardrobe.
Cupcakes and Cashmere off the shoulder sweater (wearing xs) – This sweater is amazing! Probably the softest, most coziest thing I’ve ever tried one. Since the material drapes nicely, the shoulders sit perfectly off the shoulders. Sadly, they didn’t have any neutral colors in my size. I’m wearing an xs, but I’m thinking of ordering the black in xxs online.
Glamorous open back sweater (wearing xs) – Oversized sweaters are all the rage right now, so I had to try this one on. Obviously, it runs large on me, but I love the style and color. I absolutely adore the open back detail. I’m on the search for a petite-friendly oversized sweater like this. If anyone has seen one, let me know!
Hinge lace peplum top (wearing xs) – I’m not huge on peplum, but this blouse was really pretty. I’m wearing an xs, but would have tried the xxs if they had it in-store. A great piece to layer with a leather jacket or wear on it’s own with high waisted jeans and a heel. I love that it has a lining on the upper half of the shirt, so no need for a special bra.
Pam and Gela striped sweater (wearing petite)- This sweater is adorable. Can’t beat the stripes and distressing combo. If the sweater was slightly shorter I think I would have swooped it. It’s just, tucking in a sweater with side slits never looks right to me. Plus, when you have slits that are held together with adorable bows, I think you’re supposed to show them off.
La Vie Rebecca Taylor striped blouse (wearing xs) – Another really cute piece from Rebecca Taylor’s La Vie line that’s perfect for spring. The navy stripes pair perfectly with the feminine pleat detail. Runs wide and short, but looks cute tucked in.
Madewell lace up denim shirt (wearing xs) – Of course I had to try on a denim lace-up shirt. This one from Madewell is nice and thick. I tried on an xs, knowing it would run slightly large (normally wear an xxs with Madewell tops). Definitely cute for spring.
Mural varsity bomber jacket (wearing xs) – This jacket looked really small off the rack, which most often times means it will fit me perfectly. The length and shoulders were a nice fit, but the sleeves still ran long. Typically, I can work with long sleeves, but when the jacket has a cuff sleeve, like this one, it’s not as pretty to roll or make work. If you’re looking for a lightweight bomber jacket and don’t have abnormally small arms, this one from Mural is a great option. Looks like the black has sold out online, but it also comes in green and burgundy.
Cupcakes and Cashmere drape jacket (wearing xs) – This jacket looked cute off the rack, but it runs oversized on me. Cupcakes and Cashmere does offer xxs online, so that might have made a big difference (although it seems pretty large, so you may need to size down). I love the drape style for spring or summer.
