Aside from denim, booties are the first thing I think about once we enter September. I like to think of them as the sandal replacement. You need a pair in every color and in all different heel heights. Does anyone else feel this way? Booties also happen to be the perfect transition piece. If it’s still pretty warm where you’re at right now, don’t fret, you can easily pair your ankle booties with denim cutoffs and a sweater or a tee. It’s a great way to extend your summer wardrobe and continue wearing some your favorite warm weather pieces. I tend to lean toward cognac or any tan/beige booties for this transitional phase and save the darker tones like black and gray when we get deeper into fall and close to winter. I think it’s my way of holding on to the early days of fall when the air is crisp, but not too frigid and the leaves are still out and changing colors… idk, maybe I’m just weird. But, I will say, this color is super versatile and easy to wear. They go with everything, including black!
I spotted these booties from Nordstrom and instantly fell in love with the color. I needed to replace my Rag & Bone booties I had for a couple of years, and these fit the bill. Super comfortable, love the side zipper for easy on and off, and I like that the toe is more of an almond shape versus super round. They’re comfortable right out of the box and run true to size. They come in cognac suede, which I’m wearing, black, olive suede, and taupe suede (all great options for fall).
If you’re thinking about getting a pair of neutral color ankle booties and want me to style these a couple more ways, let me know in the comments. Maybe you have something in particular (dress, skirt, etc.) you want to wear them with, but need help with inspiration. LMK!
