Dressing Room Diaries

Happy hump day! I’m excited to bring you another round of spring try-ons. Let me know if there’s any spring trends or styles you would like me to try on for you. Also, let me know if you would like to see me try on from any other stores. Enjoy!

Madewell cold shoulder black top 1
Madewell cold shoulder black top 3

Madewell cold shoulder top (xs) – This top is adorable. Good quality, cute details, but just way too short. I even tried it on with shorts to see if I could make it work (nope, still too cropped). Maybe it’s supposed to be worn with high-waisted jeans? I’m wearing an xs and it fits fairly snug, so if you’re thinking about it, you may want to size up.

Madewell bomber jacket 3

Madewell bomber jacket (xs) – I have been eyeing this jacket for a while and I’m so glad I went in and tried it on. The perfect bomber jacket has been a tough find for me. Either they’re too poofy and not flattering or the arms are way too long. This one is poofy, but for some reason I don’t mind it. It hugs your body perfectly. This is an xs, which from the photos, looks nice and somewhat fitted. The arms aren’t extremely long and the cropped length works great on my small frame. The reviews on the Madewell website say the jacket runs small, so you may want to size up. I loved the shrunken fit on this one so much, I actually ordered it in xxs. I will keep you posted on fit once it arrives.

Hinge blouse

Hinge crepe top (xs) – I’m so in love with this top. It looks 100 times better in person and it’s just so darn comfortable. It fit well for an xs, too! It has a good weight to it making it drape really nicely. If I didn’t know it came in xxs I would have bought the xs… of course, now the xxs is sold out online.  This would be a great go-to piece to wear in the spring and summer. Pairs well with denim cut offs, but can easily be dressed up with jeans and pumps/sandals.

Levi's 501 denim 1
Levi's 501 denim 2

Levi’s 501 denim shorts (24 and 25) – Levi’s can do no wrong in my book right now, so when I saw these, I had to try them on. I tried on both the 24 and 25 and both were not flattering at all. Denim shorts are not supposed to be tight around your legs. Please make it stop. They’re uncomfortable and the inseam just doesn’t work for me. Great wash and distressing details, though. If you have skinny thighs, these may work for you.

Trouve lace sweater 1

Trouve lace sweater 3
Trouve lace sweater 2

Trouve fringe lace sweatshirt (xs) – How fun is this sweatshirt?! Fringe and lace in sweatshirt form, sign me up. Sadly, the xs ran large on me (but I think it runs TTS). You will most definitely need to wear a cami under, although this sweatshirt would be adorable over a swimsuit as well. Pair it with light wash denim cut offs or boyfriend jeans and you’re spring ready!

Chelsea 28 ruffle blouse 2
Chelsea 28 ruffle blouse 1

Chelsea 28 ruffle sleeve blouse (xs) – I had seen this blouse online first and knew I had to try it on. I love the color and the ruffle details. The xs was super big, but in general, I think it runs large. I would size down, but keep in mind it has more of a cropped fit. The color and style are perfect for spring.

cupcakes and cashmere denim off the shoulder top 1

Cupcakes and Cashmere denim off the shoulder top (xs) – By the looks of it on the rack, I knew this top would run large. The arms the width, everything runs wide. I would size down 1 or 2 sizes… although it runs a bit cropped, so be cautious. I think if this top was shrunken down in all areas, it could have so much potential.

BP. cold shouler top 2
BP. cold shouler top 1

BP. ruffle cold shoulder top  (xs) – I was first drawn to the gorgeous baby blue color (how pretty would this be against a golden brown tan?). I love the cold shoulder and ruffle details, but it’s just way too short. Nice breathable material, but it appears it may wrinkle easily. The xs fit pretty snug, so I would recommend sizing up. Comes in white as well.

Chelsea 28 floral dress 3

Chelsea 28 tiered dress (xs) – How gorgeous is this print? Gray florals, yes please! I would say the tiered ruffles create a bit of a faux stomach, which is never flattering, but it could just be the way the dress falls on my short frame. Although I’ve never been a fan of a high-low hem, I don’t mind it on this dress. Very romantic and ethereal vibe, which would pair perfectly with edgy accessories. Throw on a leather jacket and black heels or denim jacket and wedges.

Caslon pink sweater 2

Caslon tie back pullover (xs) –  This sweater is more saturated in person than it appears online. I thought it was going to be a pretty blush, but it’s very pink. I’m actually wearing it backward in the photos. I love the tie-back detail, so I figured it would get more exposure in the front lol. It fits  oversized, without feeling and looking huge. The material is lightweight and not scratchy at all. If it was more blush, this would have come home with me.

ASTR the Label embroidered dress 4

ASTR The Label midi dress (xs) – This dress is gorgeous! Surprisingly it fit really well everywhere except, obviously, the length. Even though it’s a long midi, almost full length on me, I think I could pull it off with some strappy nude heels. The straps are adjustable, which isn’t the prettiest detail, but practical for sure. It’s a nice Self Portrait dupe that was all the rage last year. I didn’t get the dress the day I tried it on, just because it’s still very cold and rainy here, but I keep thinking about it. Seems like it sold out online in white in an xs, but it comes in black and baby blue as well.

Articles of Society off the shoulder top (xs) – I can’t ever go into a store and not try on a striped top. Feel me? This is a very basic off the shoulder top perfect to lounge around in or throw on on-the-go. It’s soft and extremely versatile. I’m wearing an xs and it fits well, so you may want to size up.

Abercrombie & Fitch utility jacket 3

Abercrombie & Fitch anorak jacket (xs) – Okay, this jacket is super chic. I saw it on the rack and fell in love. I think it’s the combination of the color, style, and details. Anorak jackets tend to be longer, but I love this shorter version. It an asymmetrical hem, longer in the back, which I happen to like. I’m so sad it runs so oversized in the arms, otherwise, I would have found a way to make it work. If you’re in the market for something like this, I would highly recommend checking this one out. Just size down!

abercrombie & fitch utility vest 2
abercrombie & fitch utility vest 1

Abercrombie & Fitch military vest – Just when I thought I wasn’t a vest girl, I tried this on, and it may have changed my mind. Chic, tough, and a 3rd piece that can always step up an outfit. This xs fit really well. It has pull ties to cinch the waist and I love the large military style pockets. Definitely petite-friendly. It comes in an assortment of colors for those of you who don’t love the green color.

Abercrombie & Fitch cold shoulder top (xs) – White embroidered top with cold shoulders, sign me up! I’m such a sucker for these tops in the spring and summer. They’re so refreshing and easy to wear. This one is sheer, but I’m wearing a nude bra and it seems to be fine. The xs fit loose and drapey, but still fitted. I could easily wear this with denim cutoffs all summer long.

Abercrombie & Fitch embroidered blouse 2

Abercrombie & Fitch embroidered blouse (xs) – This blouse would be perfect to wear on a hot summer day or to the beach. It’s extremely lightweight and sheer, but has adorable details (flare sleeves and embroidery). It fit loose, but I think that’s the style, so I would say it runs TTS.

Abercrombie & Fitch cardigan 1

Abercrombie & Fitch cardigan 3
Abercrombie & Fitch cardigan 2

Abercrombie & Fitch classic cardigan (xs) – I’m always on the hunt for classic beige, tan, or cognac cardigans, so when I saw this ribbed version, I knew I had to try it on. It fits large on me, but it’s extremely soft and cozy. If you’re looking for a basic beige cardigan, this one is awesome. I don’t know if sizing down is necessary. It hits me at a great length, it’s just the arms run really wide.
