Weekend Recap 33

Crystalin Marie baby shower

Phew, what a weekend! We made it home Sunday night and I finally got a full night’s sleep. In case you missed it, me, Mike, my aunt Nicole, and cousin Hannah flew down to the Bay Area for our baby shower. Despite the Northern California fires (absolutely devastating), the weather turned out amazing. A little wind, which was not ideal for all the balloons, but everything else went smoothly. A great turn out, good food, amazing desserts, and the decor turned out just as I had envisioned. Stay tuned for a full post with all the details.

My Favorite Boots for Fall

MY FAVORITE FALL BOOTS

I’ve been on a bit of a boot binge as of late and I don’t know if I can stop myself. Ever since moving to Oregon, my boot collection has grown exponentially. And to think, I didn’t think I could pull off ankle booties…(what was I thinking all those years ago?). Boy have times changed and in the best way possible. There’s so many styles out there and each one goes with different outfits and creates a whole different vibe.

2017 Fall Style Trend: Plaid Blazer

Paige Verdigo maternity jeans

If we learned anything from Fashion Week, it’s oversized plaid blazers are one of the hottest trends for fall. And to be honest, I’m all about it! As you know, I try to be a little more cautious when it comes to trends (classic girl over here), but this one I can jump on. The menswear vibe is right up my alley and the longer length is super flattering. It’s one of those chic pieces you can throw on with just about anything and look pulled together.

Weekend Recap 33

Happy Wednesday! I wasn’t able to get to writing this post until last night, so I figured, better late than never, even though it’s already mid week. Plus, I skipped last week’s WR and I feel like it’s been forever since we’ve caught up on life. We had a very productive weekend. Running errands, stopping into a restaurant we hadn’t been to in forever (that tomato soup was everything!), getting work done, and making final decisions and orders for our baby shower. Let me tell you, planning a baby shower that will be held in another state is not easy.

His + Hers: Athleisure Style

his and hers athleisure style

Since I’ve been all about athleisure style, I think it’s been rubbing off on Mike. There’s something about seeing casual wear mixed with athletic pieces that you can’t resist. Comfortable, cozy, yet still put together. Who doesn’t want that? I guess you can say, the couple that athleisures together, stays together, lol.

My First Pair of Frye Boots

Sponsored by Zappos

Frye kristen harness boot in dark gray

I’ve known about Frye boots for forever and I’m so excited to be teaming up with them and Zappos for my first ever pair of Frye boots just in time for fall! So many people have raved about the quality and craftsmanship and I must say, it’s all true. I’m wearing the Kristen Harness Short boots and they’re comfortable the second you step into them and beautifully made. You can just tell their high quality right when you pull them out of the box (they have some weight to them). I wasn’t sure I could pull off this short boot style because of my petite frame, but the narrow shaft makes these super flattering. If you’re looking for a comfortable flat bootie with a small heel, I couldn’t recommend these more. They also come in black!

The Perfect Drape Front Trench

How to style a trench coat

I’ve had my Azalea drape front trench (last seen here) for a several years now, so I thought it was time to upgrade. The style has proven to be super versatile (you can literally wear with anything, dress it up or down). I’ve been content with my Azalea jacket because I had it custom tailored to me, so it fits like a glove! With that being said, there’s no lining and the color is little off. When I spotted this jacket on Club Monaco’s site, I thought the shorter length (on the model) could work for me. While the length works, the sleeve width and length are a little roomy. Overall though, this is a great drape trench. It’s fully lined and has some weight to it, which I like for layering in the winter. The quality is really nice and it’s just a gorgeous piece to have in your closet. I’ll definitely be living in this all fall and even winter.

October’s Wishlist

October's Wishlist

At the beginning of every season, I always feel like there’s so much to invest in to complete my wardrobe. I’ve been building my essential wardrobe for years, so you would think this list of things would get smaller. But, I’ve found that just because you have the basic essentials, doesn’t mean you can’t either upgrade or buy a few trend items. This season is all about the plaid/check blazer and pageboy hats – two trends I can get on board with. I’ll share more about these in a later post, but in the meantime, I’m sharing a few items on my October wishlist.
